Dexter: Resurrection Wraps Filming, Director Says Farewell Set Photos Are Too Spoiler-Filled to Share

Instead, he shared a never-before-seen photo from the Dexter set, taken in 2007!

After 159 days, Dexter: Resurrection has officially wrapped production. It was an emotional day on set this past Tuesday in Yonkers, New York, as the cast and crew bid farewell to the highly anticipated sequel series—at least for now. Filming kicked off in the dead of winter on January 9th and wrapped up in mid-June, marking the end of an ambitious first season.

Unlike Dexter: New Blood (2021) or even Dexter: Original Sin last year, where social media was flooded with heartfelt behind-the-scenes photos, this time things were noticeably quieter. No final-day set images featuring Michael C. Hall, David Zayas, or other lead cast members surfaced online. That radio silence has only deepened the mystery and raised excitement among fans.

Director Marcos Siega, who helmed six episodes of the new series, explained his absence from the usual wrap-day photo drop. According to Siega, many of the scenes filmed on the final day were too spoiler-heavy to share publicly.

A Nostalgic Throwback From Marcos Siega

Instead of offering a fresh look at the new season, Siega took fans on a trip down memory lane. He shared a never-before-seen behind-the-scenes photo from 2007, during the filming of Dexter Season 2, Episode 2, titled "Waiting to Exhale". The image features Matthew Willig as Little Chino, wrapped in plastic—classic Dexter-style—after being subdued once again by our favorite blood-spatter analyst.

This throwback feels oddly deliberate. Could it be a playful nod to a similar scene filmed for Dexter: Resurrection? Perhaps with a drastically different victim? It’s a fun theory to chew on: what if Siega’s choice to post that specific image is a subtle hint at what’s to come?

Cast and Crew Photo Surfaces – But Where’s Michael C. Hall?

While most of the wrap day has been kept under wraps (pun intended), one intriguing image did emerge via Instagram Stories from a producer on the show. The photo possibly captures the final shooting day for Uma Thurman and Jack Alcott. The backdrop appears to be Leon Prater’s NYC apartment—featured in the official trailer as the site of his ominous serial killer gatherings.

Though we can’t confirm the exact date of the shot, we do spot familiar faces like showrunner Clyde Phillips and executive producer Scott Reynolds mingling in the background.

A Sweet Sendoff – Literally

As production wrapped, the crew celebrated in style. Scott Reynolds shared a spoiler-free yet tantalizing image from the set: a chocolate fondue station featuring a towering multi-tiered fountain surrounded by skewers of pineapple, marshmallows, green apples, grapes, strawberries, and blueberries.

But this isn’t just any dessert display. Reynolds cryptically teased that the chocolate fountain will “make sense” once fans watch the season. Could it symbolize something darker or be part of a plot twist? With Dexter, you just never know.

Final Thoughts: A Killer Ending in the Works?

One thing seems certain: something major went down on the last day of filming. A recent casting call for real NYPD coroners and medical examiners suggests a large-scale crime scene may have been part of the finale. It's also likely these scenes were shot indoors at the series' Yonkers studio—fitting for a show that’s always been known for its big, bloody finishes.

While the absence of key stars like Michael C. Hall in wrap day content may disappoint some fans, it only adds fuel to the fire. If the final episode is too spoiler-filled to even tease, then we might be in for one of Dexter’s most shocking season finales yet!
