Dexter Gets New Show Runner for Sixth Season
For the second season in a row, Dexter is getting a new show runner.
Show veteran Scott Buck will take over for Chip Johannessen, one year after Johannessen replaced Clyde Phillips.
Johannessen helped the show maintain the momentum from Phillips' fourth season, which ended with the show's highest-rated episode - and one of television's best surprises. Season 5, which ended Sunday, was the show's highest-rated overall, averaging more than 5 million viewers each week including TV and on-demand.
Buck has a long history with "Dexter": He joined the show in its second season as a co-executive producer, and worked previously with star Michael C. Hall on HBO's "Six Feet Under."

Julia Stiles Denies Breaking Up Michael C. Hall & Jennifer Carpenter
Julia Stiles wants to set the record straight: She had nothing to do with Dexter co-stars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter getting divorced.
"I have absolutely nothing to do with the split between Michael and Jennifer," Stiles said in a statement obtained by E! Online. "We are good friends and enjoyed working together."
Dexter's Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter getting a divorce
On Monday, Hall and Carpenter announced they were getting a divorce after two years of marriage.
Reports, particularly on Hollyscoop.com, surfaced that Hall and Stiles were involved. Stiles, who along with Hall received a Golden Globe nomination this week, played Hall's love interest during Season 5.
"This is a personal matter between them, and we should respect their privacy," the 29-year-old Stiles said. "Although I, too, prefer to keep my private life, private — I felt compelled to dispel the rumors I was somehow the cause for this matter."
On Thursday, the same day Hall — winner of a Screen Actors Guild award for his performance on the show — got another SAG nod for his role on the Showtime series, Carpenter filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking spousal support from Hall, according to The Associated Press.
Hall, 39, and Carpenter, 31, met on the set of Dexter, where they play foster siblings. The pair married on Dec. 31, 2008.

Dexter - Episode 5.12 "The Big One" - Recap
We picked up with a panicked Dexter gathering his kill tools to go find Jordan before the psycho could harm Lumen. He theorized that Jordan was probably keeping Lumen at the place he had kept all the torture victims -- a place the PD had thus far been unable to locate. As Dexter frantically tried to gather his things and head out on his manhunt, Harry appeared and tried to get Dexter to slow down before he made a grave mistake. He reminded him that the last time he chased a killer before thinking it through, Rita ended up dead. Despite the warning, Dexter refused to let up. Lumen meant too much, he told Harry. "She hasn't turned away from me. She hasn't turned against me. She's someone I can share my life with, I will not let her die," he said. Upon reflection, his dedication to her makes the end result all the more heartbreaking. Read more after the jump...

Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are filing for divorce
After nearly two years of marriage, Dexter stars Michael C. Hall, 39, and Jennifer Carpenter, 31, are divorcing. An exclusive joint statement to EW from their representatives read: “Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce.” Both reps add that the split was amicable. The couple — who met on the set of the Showtime drama, in which she plays his foster sister — married on December 31, 2008. Hall completed treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma earlier this year.

Episode 5.12 "The Big One" - Sara Colleton Scoop from THR
Yesterday we posted a spoiler interview from the Executive Producer Sara Colleton on E!Online. Today check out a new from THr, The Hollywood Reporter.
"After John Lithgow's Trinity Killer helped create one of the most shocking TV deaths during "Dexter's" Season 4 finale, the Showtime drama — led by showrunner Sara Colleton — abandoned the single-season "big bad" villain and took Michael C. Hall's lovable serial killer down a different path. "Barrel Girl" Lumen (guest star Julia Stiles) has gone from victim to Dexter's partner in crime, creating an allegiance previously unseen on the drama. Now, heading into Sunday's Season 5 finale, Peter Weller's private investigator Stan Liddy — who had all the goods on Dexter — is dead in a van and Desmond Harrington's Detective Joey Quinn could be on the hook, thanks to a lone drop of blood, and Lumen is fighting for her life — again — at the hands of Jonny Lee Miller's Jordan Chase." BREAKING: Dexter is renewed officially by Showtime for a sixth season!
'Network’s Top-Rated Drama Series Renewed DEXTER On Pace To Post Its Highest- Rated Season Ever
LOS ANGELES, CA — (December 6, 2010) — As season five of SHOWTIME’s top-rated drama series DEXTER, starring Emmy®-nominated and Golden Globe® award-winning actor Michael C. The announcement was made today by David Nevins, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks. Season 6’s episodes will go into production next spring in Los Angeles.
“DEXTER is the best suspense drama on television,” said Nevins. “To grow its audience so significantly in its fifth season is an enormous accomplishment by this amazing cast and crew. This is the easiest decision I’ve made since I got to Showtime.”
One of the most acclaimed series on television, DEXTER received seven Primetime Emmy Award nominations this year, including Outstanding Television Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Michael C. Hall and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for John Lithgow, which Lithgow won. Additionally, director Steve Shill won the Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. The series has received numerous Golden Globe nominations, as well as a prestigious Peabody Award in 2008 and was twice named one of AFI’s top ten television series.
DEXTER had its second highest ratings ever with this season's tenth episode (Nov. 28), delivering 2.54 million viewers, up 43 percent versus the season five premiere (1.77 million). The telecast was the second-highest delivery in the series’ history, behind the season four finale (2.57 million).
DEXTER stars Michael C. Hall (Golden Globe and SAG Award winner) as a complicated and conflicted blood-spatter expert for the Miami police department who moonlights as a serial killer. Season five of the series also starred Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Lauren Vélez, David Zayas, and James Remar.''
