Top 15 Kills Celebrating 15 Years of ‘Dexter’ (Part 3 of 3)

Part 3 of Dexter's Top 15 kills, by Nick Henderson!

Showtime (edited by DexterDaily)

We have reached the final chapter of my Dexter countdown! What better way to celebrate the 15 year journey of everybody’s favorite Serial Killer, Dexter Morgan, than with a look back at his most memorable kills? For me, these are the “moments” that define the character and make his story so wickedly compelling for the audience.

These last five choices in particular resonate with me the most because they paint the most vivid picture of who Dexter is and speak to the undeniable truth that has been plain-as-day since the pilot aired in 2006: That despite his strong desire to be human and to live a “normal” life, it simply cannot happen. Even the most human experiences and concepts (grief, friendship, purpose, etc) are irrevocably tainted by the demon that has followed him since childhood. Let’s take a look…

With part 3, I am delving into the my top 5. If you missed part 2, you can find it here. Of course, this article contains SPOILERS for all 9 seasons of Dexter so proceed with caution if you haven’t watched the show or are not 100% caught up. Let’s get started:

Top 15 Kills Celebrating 15 Years of ‘Dexter’ (Part 2 of 3)

Part 2 of Dexter's Top 15 kills, by Nick Henderson!

Showtime (edited by DexterDaily)

My Dexter countdown celebrating 15 years of this groundbreaking series continues! If you missed it, I am counting down my 15 favorite kills throughout the nine season run. The brilliance of Dexter has always been how these twisted moments serve to shine a light on the human condition. They inspire reflection in us as viewers and somehow manage to bring this character closer and closer to finding his own humanity; Even if it is destined to remain just out of reach.

With part 2, I am delving into the first half of my top 10. If you missed part 1, you can find it here. Of course, this article contains SPOILERS for all 9 seasons of Dexter so proceed with caution if you haven’t watched the show or are not 100% caught up. Let’s get started:

Top 15 Kills Celebrating 15 Years of ‘Dexter’ (Part 1 of 3)

The first part of Dexter's Top 15 kills, by Nick Henderson!

Showtime (edited by DexterDaily)

Over the course of 9 seasons, Dexter has dispatched many deserving (and maybe a few undeserving) victims. The writers found a plethora of unique scenarios and themes to work with which resulted in a lot of unforgettable moments. With ‘New Blood’ and the 15th anniversary firmly in the rearview mirror, I have decided to rank my 15 favorite kills from the series. Yes, it’s a tad morbid and maybe a little messed up, but these are the scenes that define the show and move the character forward. They are the moments in which the themes of the series are manifested in their purest form; Moments in which Dexter Morgan evolves as a character, for better or worse. For me, these kills embody the very soul of the series and delivered the most dramatic impact on the arc of the character. Let’s dig in…

POLL: Which Love Interest Was the Best For Dexter Morgan?

Rita, Lila, Lumen, Hannah, and Angela. Pick the best one!

Happy Valentine's Day! Dexter Morgan wasn't interested in romance, but he certainly had a handful of women in his (on screen) life. Throughout all nine seasons of Dexter, our favorite serial killer was romantically involved with five ladies.

Lila was perhaps Dexter's craziest love interest, and the affair that caused a rift between him and Rita. She was obsessed with Dex which led to lots of troubles for him and his loved ones. Rita was the woman he was married to, and they both had a child of their own. Following her death in the final episode of season four, no one was ready for another love interest. Dexter found Lumen while searching for a killer who was meant to dispose of her body. Lumen and Dexter became partners to eliminate the members of the Barrel Girl gang. Until that point, she was the only woman that accepted his dark urges.

Then came Hannah McKay a woman that made him fall in love for the first time. She was a serial killer like him, and she totally accepted his dark... whatever. Angela Bishop was meant to be Dexter's final love interest. She was the chief of Iron Lake police and the woman that ironically solved the Bay Harbor Butcher case. Vote below! Who do you think was the best love interest for Dexter? Note: If you clicked on "Show Results" before voting on the poll but you can't go back and vote, just refresh the page.

POLL: What Did You Think of Harrison Morgan's Character In Dexter: New Blood?

Harrison is the most controversial 'Dexter' character since Hannah McKay.

Last time we saw Harrison Morgan in the original series was in Argentina, where he was living with Hannah McKay after Dex faked his death. When his stepmother died of cancer in 2018, he ended up being sent to various foster homes in the United States. A couple of years later, teenage Harrison found out his father is alive, he returned to his life, but things weren't easy. Over the course of 20 days, their father-son relationship had many ups and downs, and their last scene together wasn't very... pleasing for some fans. What's your opinion on Harrison's character in Dexter: New Blood? Dexter: New Blood's M99 vs. Ketamine Debate - Marcos Siega Explains the Truth Behind the "Plot Hole"

Etorphine... or Ketamine?

During the eighth episode of the season "Unfair Game" we see Angela doing her own online BHB research at her place. She's suspecting her own boyfriend of injecting the drug dealers of Iron Lake with Ketamine, and she Googles "Ketamine Miami Homicide", with the search engine results explicitly stating that "Doakes’ victims were rendered unconscious with Ketamine injected into their neck." As we all know, back in the good old Miami days, Dexter was drugging his victims with a syringe full of M99.

Some people immediately thought Dexter: New Blood has retconned the Bay Harbor Butcher's original drug of M99 (aka Etorphine) to Ketamine. Executive Producer and director Marcos Siega recently spoke with BingetownTV's podcast about the Ketamine/M99 debate. Find out what he said below!
