Michael C. Hall and David Zayas Share the Scene They Loved Filming Most in Dexter: Resurrection

Both stars opened up about their favorite scenes to film in the Dexter sequel.

Today marks a milestone for Dexter fans as Dexter: Resurrection officially wraps production. After six relentless months of weekday filming, the highly anticipated sequel to Dexter: New Blood has almost completed shooting. As executive producer and writer Scott Reynolds teased earlier today on his X (formerly Twitter) account, celebrations are already underway behind the scenes.

With filming almost complete, every scene for this new chapter in the Dexter saga is officially in the can. What remains is post-production — editing, scoring, and perfecting what promises to be one of the most emotionally charged and thrilling seasons in the franchise's history.

Dexter: Resurrection Takes the Franchise to New York City

This next installment takes our beloved antihero to New York City, where long-buried secrets and long-awaited confrontations await. Expect exciting reunions, shocking twists, and emotional reckonings that fans have been craving for over a decade. And while some plot points remain tightly guarded, one thing is clear: Dexter: Resurrection will not hold back.

A Scene That Stole the Cast’s Hearts: Dexter and Batista’s Reunion

At the main CCXP Mexico panel on May 31st — the first major promotional event for Dexter: Resurrection — series stars Michael C. Hall (Dexter Morgan) and David Zayas (Angel Batista) were asked a simple but revealing question: What has been your favorite scene to film so far?

Their answer? The long-awaited reunion between Dexter and Batista.

This emotionally loaded moment, briefly teased in the official trailer, takes place at the Seneca Nation clinic in Iron Lake. While the trailer offered only a fleeting glimpse, it was enough to stir massive buzz among fans. According to reports from the panel, the scene includes references to several major characters from Dexter's past — though the exact content of their conversation remains top secret.

This marks the first on-screen conversation between Dexter and Batista since the Season 8 finale in 2013, when Dexter killed Oliver Saxon in the Miami Metro interrogation room. Fans had hoped for a payoff in Dexter: New Blood, especially with Batista closing in — but the rushed finale left that door frustratingly ajar. This reunion scene may finally deliver the closure fans were denied.

Could Another Scene Take the Spotlight?

While Hall and Zayas chose the reunion as their favorite scene at the time of the panel, it's worth noting that 12 days of filming remained after that event — including the climactic finale. It’s entirely possible that another unforgettable moment, perhaps in Episode 10, could ultimately top their list. But for now, the Batista-Dexter reunion stands as a powerful emotional anchor for the cast — and, undoubtedly, for the fans.
