Yvonne Strahovski on Year's Top 10 Breakthrough Stage Performances

Theatermania.com made a list with the top ten stage performances of 2012. Yvonne is on number 4, for her role on Broadway's 'Golden Boy' as Lorna Moon.

"Australia's Yvonne Strahovski had never even seen a Broadway show when she made her American stage debut in Lincoln Center Theater's revival of Clifford Odets' period drama. Yet the blonde bombshell, a fan favorite on the TV series Chuck and Dexter, gave a knockout stage performance as Lorna Moon, the "Tramp from Newark" love interest to costar Seth Numrich's boxer, Joe Bonaparte. Strahovski infused Lorna's chilly exterior with humanity, and delivered zingers like a champ with an impressive 1930's Noo Yawk accent. Lorna Moon might be a stereotypical moll on the page, but Strahovski turned her into a living, breathing, and deeply damaged human."

Jason Gedrick: "Being a Series Lead Is a Huge Responsibility"

Read below, a recent interview with Jason Gedrick, for Zap2it:

You've raised three sons ranging in age from 22 to 15; are any of them aspiring actors?
Jason Gedrick: My youngest son actually co-starred in a short film I was in, and he was really terrific. At that point, he said, "I really don't like this. There's too much waiting around. This is for the birds." I said, "Believe me; I can relate."

That was eight, nine years ago, and he's just starting to maybe think about getting back into it. He's got some very, very wonderful instincts. He's got some physical gestures and nuance that I wish I had at his age.

Recently, you've been guest-starring in the current season of Showtime's "Dexter," and you were part of an ensemble cast in the short-lived HBO series "Luck." You've been a series lead before -- do you feel the itch to try that again?
Jason Gedrick: Well, it's a huge responsibility. I would have no problem with it as long as I felt everyone was just as committed as I was, and that the role fit like a glove. To experiment with that, it's risky. It'd better be something you love, considering it might go seven, eight seasons, like "Dexter" has done.

You live a couple hours away from Los Angeles in Santa Barbara, Calif. Why?
Jason Gedrick: It's as far away as I can get while still managing the drive. It's been a great environment for [my sons], although I've had to be sure we make trips back to the big city, because, sometimes, it's almost too nice to be here. But they're all doing really well, knock wood.

Aimee Garcia Interview For Zooey Magazine

Read below, Aimee Garcia's latest interview, for Zooey Magazine:

So first off, we loved you in the “George Lopez” show. What do you think was the biggest career lesson(s) you gained from working on that show? If any at all?
I learned from George that you can never take success for granted and to always work hard. No matter how tired or busy he was, he always took time to connect with his fans and the people he worked with. He taught me to treat the people you work with like family.

You made a big leap from comedy to drama, and you’re now on a beloved show — Dexter. Tell us about how much this show has differed from other projects you’ve worked on! What were your expectations of this new role? And working with an established cast.
“Dexter” has a HUGE fan base, so I knew I was coming into a high-profile show… But, the cast was so welcoming that I was never intimidated. It’s a dream to be on a show that hits that sweet spot of being critically acclaimed, but also being commercially successful. On top of that, the writers tailor the script to an actor’s natural sensibilities – C.S Lee is hysterical, so Masuka is snarky…Jennifer Carpenter has a hug heart, so Deb wears her heart on her sleeve. However, in the finale this year Jamie shows her darker side, so I have no idea where the writers drew that from! Or what the writers have in store for her next season.

What other things do you have coming up in the new year that you can tell us about?
Right now I’m shooting “RoboCop” alongside Gary Oldman and Michael Keaton… so I’m learning a ton and having a blast! Our director Jose Padilha is amazing, so I really am living the dream right now. Read the whole interview, here.

Scott Reynolds Teases Dexter Season 8 via Twitter

Check out below, writers Scott Reynolds' tweet from earlier today, about an episode of Dexter Season 8 (possibly 8.05-8.06):

Jennifer Carpenter Is the Best TV Actress of 2012, According to IGN

IGN.com's Best of 2012. Emmy-worthy Dexter star, Jennifer Carpenter voted as the best TV actress of 2012!

"Fact: Jennifer Carpenter is one of TV's all-time great criers. And over the past seven years of Dexter, she's had to do it a lot. Her fiance turned our to be a serial killer. Then her FBI profiler boyfriend got shot in front of her. Then a barista forgot that she said "no whip" on her mocha. Yeah, she doesn't really hold back.

But this year, after Deb discovered Dexter's secret, her tears and anguish became nothing short of epic. And each episode became a journey of shock and awe as Deb kept peeling the onion, figuring out everything from Doakes to Trinity to Lumen. And her emotionally wrenching confession of love in the episode "Argentina" was the best work we've ever seen from her to date. And while the Emmys might not be able to love a gal who can let loose with a phrase like "Motherf***ing suckbag!", we can deny our feelings no longer."

POLL: How Did You Feel About LaGuerta's Death?

After seven seasons, we had to say goodbye to another regular character of the show, Maria LaGuerta (Lauren Velez). The majority of the fans hated LaGuerta from the beginning of the show. In the final moments of the stunning Season 7 Finale, Deb kills her to save Dexter. How do you feel about her death? Vote below, hit the comments with your thoughts on her character and stay tuned for a special review on the seven seasons of LaGuerta on 'Dexter', later today!

Dexter Season 8 Set to Premiere Summer 2013?

No more 9-month waiting? Executive producer Scott Buck, revealed on Vulture, that Dexter Season 8 and possibly Final Season, is going to begin this summer (instead of September, or October). What do you think?

Scott Buck Dishes on Deb's Feelings For Dexter, the Season 7 Finale and What's Next For the Series

Via: vulture.com by Patti Greco: After a two-year slump — also known as Lumen and DDK — Dexter returned to form with a seventh season that was not only entertaining but also ballsy. Haters are gonna hate, but come on: Deb finally caught Dexter; Dexter fell in love; LaGuerta realized Doakes was not the Bay Harbor Butcher. And, in last night's finale, Deb murdered LaGuerta! What more do you want? Vulture spoke to Scott Buck (who took over as showrunner last year) to go over some of the finer points of this season and talk about what's next for the series.

Last season ended with a cliffhanger, but this season there was a definitive conclusion: LaGuerta is dead, Deb killed her, life as the Morgans know it is over. It seemed like a fitting way to wrap a season that was overall much faster-paced than usual. Were you giving viewers what they wanted in that respect — a quicker pace?
David Nevins, who’s now heading up Showtime, encouraged us at the beginning of this season to burn through the story, go as fast as we want. And that sort of gave us the freedom to tell the season exactly the way we wanted to. Click the 'read more' button for more...

Michael C. Hall Talks About Dexter's Development Over the Years, Season 8 and More

Via: huffingtonpost.co.uk: Michael C Hall reveals how it feels to play America’s favourite serial killer and what the future holds after the final season airs next year….

Dexter has very dark relationships with people – do you have any strategies for coping with the storylines and keeping them from seeping into your private life?
Truly the act of taking off Dexter’s clothes, putting on my clothes, getting in my car, driving home, exercising if it’s not too late. It all helps. The trickiest thing with Dexter is his sense that he’s always simulating his behaviour and I think as actors that’s what we do anyway. So if it bothers me at all it’s probably on that front just am I really any different from him? [Laughs] I mean I don’t kill people, obviously, but more is the person I’m being now, this sitting in front of a microphone self, is that me? I don’t even know. Read more, by skipping the jump below...

Executive Producer Scott Buck Dishes on Dexter Season 8, Hannah, Lumen and Many More

Via: THR.com, by Leslie Goldberd: Dexter and Debra now have a bond deeper than the affection they share as (foster) brother and sister after the stunning seventh-season finale.

With LaGuerta (Lauren Velez) closing in on Dexter (Michael C. Hall) -- and Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) as his accomplice -- the Miami Metro lieutenant stepped up in the most shocking way possible to save Dexter, putting a bullet in her captain and freeing both of them from her investigation linking him to the Bay Harbor Butcher case.

Meanwhile, Hannah McKay (Yvonne Strahovski) found a way to spring herself from jail -- where was being held without bail as she faced murder charges -- and left a flower on Dexter's doorstep before disappearing.
So how does Debra killing LaGuerta change things? Will Strahovski be back? Where will season eight pick up? Will next season be the last for the Showtime drama? The Hollywood Reporter turned to executive producer Scott Buck to answer the lingering questions ahead.

The Hollywood Reporter: Will season eight be the final year, or might Dexter continue to beyond that?
Scott Buck: I don't have an answer to that because that's a Showtime decision. As far as I know, no actual decision has been made yet. I wish I knew so I could plan my life accordingly, but I don't really know (laughs). Hit the 'read more' button, for more!

Lauren Velez Talks Finale: "I Was Surprised Because Deb & LaGuerta Had This Uneasy Friendship"

Via: huffingtonpost.com: Lauren Velez speaks about her character's shocking death, the emotional unscripted moments that made their way into last night's thrilling finale, what it was like having King back for the finale, and why it's safe to say that Deb is now a killer.

When did you first find out LaGuerta was going to get shot and that this would be the character’s final season?
I think I found out Season 7, Episode 9. I didn’t have a lot of time to get ready for it. It was shocking, but not surprising. I had a feeling all season -- from the very beginning when she was on Dexter’s trail -- that she was going to meet her maker.

A lot of fans also sensed that LaGuerta was in danger this season, but many of them thought -- or assumed -- that Dexter would be the one to kill her. Were you surprised that it ended up being Debra?
I was really surprised because Debra and LaGuerta always had this uneasy friendship. And it was sort of at times like a mentor kind of relationship. And even though they didn’t get along often times, I always felt like they had this very deep connection. Skip the jump, for more!

Showrunner Scott Buck Answers Burning Questions About the Finale - Discusses Dexter Season 8

Via: EW.com by James Hibberd: Showtime’s re-energized seventh season of Dexter delivered a finale twist that’s arguably the most disturbing moment of the series: Debra Morgan  murdered Miami Metro police captain María LaGuerta to protect her serial killer brother. How will her decision impact next season? Will Yvonne Strahovski return? And will the show really end next year? Scott Buck takes our burning questions.

EW: Dexter is a serial killer and even he was struggling with the idea of killing LaGuerta. How did Debra, whose value system is so different than Dexter’s, make that jump?
Scott Buck: I think she was under extreme duress at that moment. Dexter is the master manipulator, and it’s left up the to viewers how they want to interpret things, but Dexter was very much in control of the situation.

By saying that, are you hinting he expected her to show up?
Buck: No, I don’t think he was expecting his sister to show up at all. But when it finally came down to it, I think he handled it in the smartest possible way. Read the whole interview after the jump.

Dexter Season 7, Episode 12: “SURPRISE, MOTHERFUCKER!” Finale Recap & Review!

CAUTION: SPOILERS AHEAD. MORE SCREENSHOTS COMING!

It is finished. And yet, we’ve only just begun. There’s a pretty ridiculously good reason why last night’s explosive, emotionally-arousing finale, “Surprise, Motherfucker!” ranks as the highest-rated episode ever for any SHOWTIME original series. Behind the sky-shattering numbers and rave reviews from sea to shining sea is a bombastic story of love gained, lost, declared and re-written; it is a story tinged with a new and surprising darkness, as well as an incredibly poignant nostalgia drawn from the pilot season, in all its sacred charms and guilty pleasures that won us over in the first. This year, we’ve arrived at yet another cliff and we’ll be hanging therefrom until next September relieves us—but it’s a different kind of precipice of questions and hopes, this time around. “This is the Way the World Ends,” the knifelike stab of a conclusion that left us blue from held breath—we were suspended in that moment; that unholy, broken utterance, “Oh, God.” And now we’re left hanging from another “Oh, God,” but we caught a brief, surreal glimpse into its aftermath before the camera panned from the shell-shocked pair—in their new tragic intimacy, both born in blood—and up into a sky resplendent with fireworks to usher in the new year. How perfectly timed considering that Dexter and Debra are now on the cusp of an entirely new phase of life. Together, they’ve much more to confront and overcome than they’d ever dreamed possible. The question, now, is not whether or not Debra will accept Dexter; it’s whether or not she will accept herself for what she has done, and if she does… what that will mean for her own journey. Dexter’s not the valiant superhero draped in black, and Deb’s not the star-studded, do-gooder cop suited in navy blue. Both are colored with black and blue: the bruises and growing pains of change with all its uncertain consequences. Let’s break down the madness, shall we? Welcome to the grandest of surprises, mother**ker. Skip the jump for more.

Which Moment From the Dexter Season 7 Finale Was Unscripted?

Right after the finale, it was relealed that the scene where Deb hugs LaGuerta after she shot her, was entirely Jennifer Carpenter's idea. It was such an emotional scene. Well done Jen!

Scott Buck Talks About Dexter Season 8 and More

Via: TVLine.com, by Megan Masters: Showrunner Scott Buck discusses Deb’s ultimate sacrifice and how it will impact the conflicted cop — and her relationship with Dexter — in Season 8. He also reveals the reasons behind the ill-fated LaGuerta’s ouster, why Hannah likely isn’t gone for good and what will happen if Showtime opts to keep the ratings-rich Dexter around beyond its proposed final season.

TVLINE | Has Deb now been “born in blood” — in a shipping container — just as Dexter was as a child?
That’s interesting, I hadn’t thought of that. But you could certainly say that, yes.

TVLINE | What will Season 8 Deb look like? How will killing an innocent – and someone she cared about — affect her?
It’s certainly going to be different from Season 7. What’s so different about this kill, as opposed to anything that Dexter does, is that it was done of out love; it was done to protect someone she cared about. Read the rest, after the jump.
