A fresh batch of set photos from Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 has surfaced online, giving us a major update on the show's filming progress, and also some intriguing things that are going on.
The second season of Dexter: Resurrection is coming closer, but before the show can return with its weekly episodes, production needs to make enough progress to stay on track. Filming officially began on April 13, and now, 19 weeks into production, we finally have an idea of which episode the sophomore season is currently filming.
The latest update comes from a set photo taken on August 18, which actually focused heavily on Dan Stevens, the new series regular playing Owen Stark, a serial killer better known as the Five Borough Killer.
Episode 9 Is Currently in Production
A closer look at one of the behind-the-scenes photos, courtesy of the Bauer-Griffin photo agency, revealed an important detail on the filming clapperboard. It shows that Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 is currently filming Episode 9, which is, of course, the penultimate episode of the season.
That means there is only one episode left to film after Episode 9. However, it is still unknown exactly how far production has progressed on the episode, and there could also be exterior scenes from previous episodes that have been held back because of scheduling or other production issues.
What the Five Borough Killer Set Photos Reveal
With Episode 9 now in production, the latest batch of paparazzi set photos has caught the attention of fans, especially because Dan Stevens' Five Borough Killer is featured prominently in them.
The episode is being directed by Marcos Siega, who was once again visited on set by his beloved teenage son, Mateo Siega.
As for the photos themselves, Stevens was spotted casually sitting at a park near Wall Street in Manhattan. However, one particular detail has actually caused some curiosity. And that is because the actor appeared to be carrying a rather bulky backpack, and its unusually large size immediately caught some fans' attention. Take a look at the image right below:
There is another interesting detail worth mentioning regarding his character's equipment. Unlike the more early-2000s technology Owen Stark was seen using in nearly every previous set pic, including what appeared to be a dumb phone, he was now seen with much more modern tech.
In the latest photos, Owen can be seen using a modern smartphone and AirPods, while also having a laptop with him as he sits in the park in broad daylight.
Whether the backpack, laptop, and other devices are connected to something the Five Borough Killer is planning in the upcoming season remains to be seen. Still, they are certainly details that are difficult to ingore, especially now that production has reached the penultimate episode of Season 2.
We should keep in mind that there is a good chance that some pretty huge developments are on the way as the story moves closer to its season-ending events.
