Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Set Image Hints at a Former Victim's Haunting Return

An innocent-looking behind-the-scenes photo shared by Scott Reynolds may have quietly revealed the return of a dead Season 1 character. If true, it could only mean trouble.

Warning: The following article contains spoilers and speculation for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2.

Filming for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 continues for its 15th straight week, and every now and then fans get another exciting glimpse from the set. Sometimes it's through paparazzi photos, and other times it's thanks to the people working on the show. This time, it's actually the latter.

Executive producer and writer Scott Reynolds took to X and Instagram to share a few photos from Thursday's filming. It was a special day for him, as his daughter stopped by the set for a visit. One of the photos showed her on location holding a very gruesome prop. A severed head.

At first glance it looked like just another prop. But after taking a closer look, we couldn't help but notice something very familiar.

Did Scott Reynolds Just Tease Ryan Foster's Return?

The severed head actually looks remarkably similar to Ryan Foster, played by Bryan Lillis, who was killed by Harrison Morgan in the series premiere.

Not only does the hair length and eye color appear to match, but even the injuries on the prop seem almost identical to the wounds Ryan suffered during their fight at the hotel room bathroom, before Harrison disposed of his body.

See a comparison of the images, below:

If that's really meant to be Ryan Foster, it could hint that Harrison is about to be haunted by the memory of his first and only kill once again. Many of you will remember that after murdering Ryan in Season 1, Harrison struggled with guilt and saw visions of his victim in the episode that followed.

What Could This Scene Be About?

The photos also reveal that the scene is being filmed aboard a boat called Sound Bound Odyssey, which was seen out on the waters around the New York City area, specifically on the Hudson River. While it's impossible to know exactly what's happening, one theory actually makes sense.

If that really is Ryan Foster's severed head, the scene could involve Harrison during his time with the NYPD. As we already know, Season 2 will see him joining the police force, and it's easy to imagine that a certain murder investigation could actually trigger some painful memories of his own crime.

After all, Harrison tried to copy Dexter's method of disposing of Ryan's body to eliminate the evidence against him. And that plan didn't exactly work out.

Could Ryan Foster's Murder Become Important Again?

There's another possibility that is definitely worth considering. Despite the recently confirmed big time jump between Seasons 1 and 2, Ryan Foster's murder could somehow become relevant again.

That could happen if Harrison makes a mistake that brings renewed attention to the case. Or it could be connected to the return of Mia Lapierre, also known as Lady Vengeance, who was (successfully) framed by Dexter for Ryan Foster's murder in Season 1 and as a result exonerated his son from any charges.

If the prop really is Ryan Foster, it could be an early hint that one of Season 1's biggest loose ends is about to resurface in a major way!

What do you think? Was that really a wax prop of Ryan Foster's head? And what are your theories about the mysterious boat scene?
