Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Will Abandon a Major Season 1 Storyline That Nearly Exposed a Key Character

The second season of Dexter: Resurrection appears ready to leave behind a major Season 1 storyline that nearly landed a key character behind bars. Kadia Saraf, the actress behind Detective Claudette Wallace, recently addressed whether the case will come back, giving some interesting insight into where things actually stand.

From the very first episode of Dexter: Resurrection, fans were introduced to a different version of Harrison Morgan. Although much more likeable, the series showed Harrison struggling to control his emotions following a serious incident, eventually leading him to kill Ryan Foster, a hotel resident, at his workplace. Just like his father, Harrison then disposed of the victim's remains.

However, the remains were discovered shortly after, putting Harrison under the NYPD's microscope. Detective Claudette Wallace began investigating him as a potential murder suspect, something that created a dangerous situation that nearly exposed him.

Harrison's Season 1 Murder Case Appears to Be Over

Now, according to Saraf, the second season will largely move on from that specific case. With a significant time jump between Seasons 1 and 2, Harrison has taken a major step forward in his life. He is now a rookie in the NYPD's homicide department, working alongside Wallace and the very people who once suspected him of murder.

During a recent interview with TVLine's Nick Caruso, Saraf was asked whether Season 2 would revisit Harrison's past and whether any lingering suspicions or trust issues would actually affect his new working relationship with Wallace.

Here's what the actress had to say:

"Maybe a little bit, but once the case is closed and we're moving on, we're moving on. It's all about information that's right in front of the characters. And in this case, the information that came along was his test scores. He completed the academy. The next step would be to work with our characters. And it's best to keep him as close as possible just in case something new comes up."

Based on Saraf's comments, the investigation into Ryan Foster's murder doesn't appear to be a focus of Season 2. The fact that Harrison passed all the psychological exams and managed to finish the police academy is enough for the detective to believe she was wrong about him in Season 1.

While her answer leaves some room for the past to come up again, the main takeaway is that Wallace and the rest of the team are moving forward, with Harrison now working alongside them.

Season 1, Episode 5, showed how Harrison's situation was ultimately resolved. Dexter framed Mia Lapierre (Lady Vengeance), for Ryan Foster's murder, planting evidence that pointed to her as the killer. This allowed Harrison to escape suspicion while Mia took the blame for a crime she didn't actually  commit.

With Harrison now working in the homicide department alongside Wallace, the writers appear ready to focus on his new role, and not revisit the Ryan Foster case that nearly exposed him. In a way, he has escaped the consequences of his actions, just as his father has done countless times over the years, though that doesn't guarantee his past will never catch up with him.
