Why Masuka’s Return Still Hasn’t Been Announced for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2

Vince Masuka was one of the most iconic characters in the original series, so why hasn’t his return been announced yet?

Cameras are still rolling on Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, but when it comes to official casting updates, things have gone surprisingly quiet. And there’s still one major original character people actually keep asking about, Vince Masuka.

Despite all the speculation, C.S. Lee still hasn’t been officially announced for Season 2.

Ever since Desmond Harrington was confirmed to return as Joey Quinn in a series regular role, many of us assumed Masuka would be next. After all, Quinn and Masuka are two of the last major Miami Metro characters that are still part of that homicide department, and connected to Dexter Morgan’s story.

That expectation became even bigger because both Harrington and Lee appeared in Season 1 of Dexter: Resurrection in similar capacities, with short appearances connected to Angel Batista’s storyline and his decision to leave Miami for reasons he did not explain to his colleagues.

Vince Masuka Is Not a Series Regular in Season 2

But weeks after Harrington’s announcement, there’s still no official update about Masuka’s involvement. At this point, there’s a reason for that.

Now that filming has been underway for more than a month, Dexter: Resurrection Season 2’s series regular lineup appears to be finalized. Based on a recent cast list shared by Paramount+, the main cast currently consists of 12 actors, and C.S. Lee isn’t among them.

Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean Masuka won’t return at all. But it does suggest that if he appears in Season 2, it won’t be as a major character.

In other words, you shouldn’t expect the same kind of... upgraded role Joey Quinn is reportedly getting this season.

There are still many ways the writers could actually bring Masuka into the story, especially with Quinn seemingly playing a bigger role this season. In fact, Quinn’s return definitely makes it easier to imagine Masuka appearing at some point as well. But for now, it looks like if and when Quinn heads to New York City (much like Angel Batista did in Season 1) he may be doing it alone.

At the same time, if C.S. Lee is only returning in a guest capacity, the announcement will likely be much quieter than Harrington’s was.

Instead of a major casting reveal, it could become known through a smaller production update, or even another social media tease from the actor himself, which is actually similar to what happened last year.
