In a thrilling update for the upcoming season, it has been confirmed that Joey Quinn is returning as a series regular!
As filming continues for a second consecutive week in New York City, we finally have our first major casting update of the year about an original character for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, and it’s one that especially longtime fans have been waiting for. Desmond Harrington is officially set to return as Joey Quinn, and this time, his role is getting a major upgrade.
According to a report from Deadline, Harrington has been promoted to series regular for the upcoming second season. This is a significant change, as it means Quinn will actually play a much larger role across the 10-episode season, becoming a core part of the main cast rather than appearing sporadically.
While the report didn’t reveal additional details about how Quinn will be added into the new storyline, his return comes at a crucial moment following the shocking events of the Season 1 finale. Angel Batista remained determined to bring down Dexter Morgan, convinced that he is the true Bay Harbor Butcher, something that led to his death.
What remains unknown is where Quinn’s storyline will take place. In Season 1, his scenes were set in Miami for filmed in New York City, but now, there’s a real possibility that Quinn could travel there in search of answers, especially after the loss of a close friend and colleague. This of course could actually bring him face-to-face with new characters while continuing to his quest for the truth.
In the first season of Dexter: Resurrection, Harrington appeared in two episodes, Episode 3 and Episode 8. His final appearance included a key phone call with Detective Claudette Wallace, hinting at deeper involvement and also setting up what now confirmed to be a much bigger arc in Season 2.
Either way, this is exciting news.
