The original series has once again departed Netflix across dozens of countries worldwide.
New and longtime fans of Dexter who have been watching (or rewatching) the original series on Netflix are now facing an unfortunate change. As of March 31, the show has officially been removed from the platform, following the expiration of its licensing deal with Paramount Global.
That two-year agreement, which began in Spring 2024 after nearly four years of absence, played a major role in revitalizing the franchise. It introduced Dexter to millions of new viewers, most of them Gen Z, and actually helped bring the series back into the spotlight.
Without any doubt, it was a very successful run that benefited everyone involved with the show.
Starting March 31, Dexter is no longer available on Netflix in several regions, including Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Malaysia, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.
If you missed the “leaving soon” notice (or our recent update here on Dexter Daily) then...your Netflix binge ends here. While there is currently no indication that Dexter will return to Netflix anytime soon, it is actually worth remembering that the series has come and gone from the platform multiple times over the past 15 years, so we can’t really rule out a future comeback.
There are still a few countries where Dexter remains available on Netflix, but only through March 31. These include Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Iceland, and Mexico.
From April 1 onward, Dexter will be available to stream exclusively on Paramount+, which actually is its original home. The platform also remains the only destination for Dexter: New Blood, Dexter: Original Sin, and Dexter: Resurrection.
