The upcoming season’s main antagonist was teased just two weeks ahead of production.
The second season of Dexter: Resurrection is now in its final stages of pre-production, with filming officially set to begin on April 13 in New York City. While hype continues to grow around Dexter and Harrison’s next chapter in the Big Apple, attention is actually shifting toward what appears to be the season’s central villain.
All signs point to the New York Ripper as the main antagonist of Season 2. The brutal serial killer was teased multiple times throughout Season 1 and is believed to no longer be active...at least on the surface. Now, the latest hint about this elusive figure comes directly from the production team in New York.
Earlier today, executive producer and director Marcos Siega shared an update on Instagram, marking 13 days until cameras start rolling. The story featured a selfie of Siega with executive producer and writer Scott Reynolds on the background, who was holding a framed image that appears to be a custom poster dedicated to the New York Ripper.
UPDATE: It seems like this poster is not custom, and it exists for decades. It is from the 1982 film “The New York Ripper.”
Siega actually encouraged the people who saw his IG story to take a closer look at the frame. Although the image itself was compressed, (he was kind enough to send us a larger one) it clearly pointed to the creepy killer whose identity remains under wraps.
At the center of the poster from the 1982 movie is a shadowy figure wearing a red hat and a black coat, seen from behind. The whole thing actually leans more into a noir aesthetic, with the figure’s head blending into what resembles the end of a tunnel.
This teaser makes it clear that Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection is going to have the New York Ripper front and center. The killer, whose name was revealed as Don Framt in the Season 1 finale, is definitely set to play a major role in this next chapter.
