The actress remarks about 17-year-old Debra Morgan, "She still swears a lot."
Dexter: Original Sin premieres in just 8 days, and the excitement is reaching a fever pitch, fueled by Showtime's full-throttle promotion of this highly anticipated installment in the franchise. After releasing two featurettes focused on Dexter Morgan and Harry Morgan—featuring insights from Patrick Gibson and Christian Slater, respectively—it's now Molly Brown's turn to step into the spotlight.
In a brand-new featurette released earlier today, Molly Brown, who plays 17-year-old Deb, opened up about her character in Dexter: Original Sin: "How I get into Deb, the easiest way in is when I have a line that has the word f*ck in it," she shared.
What's 17-year-old Deb Like?
Discussing the teenage version of the character originally portrayed by Jennifer Carpenter, Brown elaborated on Deb’s personality in the prequel:
"Deb is 100% no bad qualities. Deb is great. Deb is cool. Deb is feisty. Deb is bold. Deb is not scared, but actually like kinda scared. Deb is a leader, but Deb is also an outsider."
Deb's Potty Mouth Returns
Unsurprisingly, she confirmed that young Deb still has a penchant for swearing:
"I promise we didn't take that away. She still swears a lot. Deb is living in Miami, you know, and Deb indulges in that a little bit. Deb also has a bit of a temper."
A Cathartic role
Brown also reflected on the release playing the character gives her:
"It's such a release because Molly can't just, like, yell at people all the time. Otherwise, people wouldn't talk to her. But Deb gets to. Luckily, she's got a heck of a brother to help her out."
