Where Things Left Off in Season 1

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Season 1 of Dexter: Resurrection.

The first season began with Dexter Morgan waking up from a 10-week coma, only to discover that Angel Batista had questions about what Angela Bishop had told him regarding Dexter being the real Bay Harbor Butcher.

With Batista getting closer to the truth, Dexter leaves the hospital in Iron Lake and heads to New York City to find his son, Harrison, whom he suspects of being involved in a murder.

Before their reunion, Dexter finds himself drawn into a secret society of serial killers led by Leon Prater. To infiltrate the group, Dexter actually takes on the identity of another serial killer, the Dark Passenger Killer. This gives him the opportunity to get close to Prater and his circle of killers and take them down one by one.

Meanwhile, Batista discovers that Dexter is in New York City and tries many times to confront him about his suspicions. However, he eventually finds himself in serious trouble by Prater, who has just discovered that Dexter is the real Bay Harbor Butcher. Prater wants Dexter to kill his former colleague in front of him, but Dexter refuses and manages to free Batista.

Batista then turns on Dexter and tries to kill him, only for Prater to kill him moments later.

In the Season 1 finale, Dexter finally brings Prater's story to an end after the serial killer-obsessed billionaire officially fits his Code. Meanwhile, Charley resigns and leaves New York City just in time to avoid being caught up in the full fallout of her former boss's crimes.

When and Where Does Season 2 Take Place?

The second season will feature a time jump of approximately three to four years, with the story beginning in June 2026.

As in the first season, the action will actually take place in New York City, where Dexter has been building a new life while trying to keep his dark side under control.
