As production for the second season slowly comes to an end, it looks like the surprises are not stopping. On September 9, it was revealed that legendary horror icon Barbara Crampton has landed a role in the upcoming episodes of Dexter: Resurrection.

The announcement actually came directly from the actress herself, who took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes selfie posing alongside Dexter star Michael C. Hall on the set of Season 2.

A day earlier, Crampton had already teased her involvement in the show with a mirror selfie taken inside her trailer. She did not reveal any details at the time, leaving her followers guessing about what project she was working on. Her new selfie alongside Hall, however, left little doubt that she will be appearing in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2.

Details about her role remain strictly under wraps for now. However, based on the 67-year-old actress's wording, she described it as an "appearance" on the show, which could suggest that she will have a smaller role rather than being a major part of the season.

For those unfamiliar with Crampton, she is widely considered as one of horror cinema's ultimate "Scream Queens" and has become an iconic figure in the genre. Her career began with daytime soap operas before she rose to cult status through her roles in several 1980s horror classics.

After taking a break from screen acting in the 2000s, Crampton made a big comeback in the 2010s, something that reinvigorated her career and actually helped her connect once more with the horror community. Since then, she has continued appearing in a number of notable horror projects.

Interestingly, Crampton's addition to the Dexter: Resurrection cast is very similar to the recent casting of Kane Hodder, who is also set to make an appearance in the first episode of Season 2.

Both Crampton and Hodder are legendary names in the horror genre, with each leaving a big mark on horror cinema. Their appearances defintiely give Dexter: Resurrection another fun connection to the world of horror, even if their roles end up being brief.
