Will Dexter: Resurrection Get Any Emmy Nominations? Experts Make Their Final Predictions

Paramount has made it clear that Dexter: Resurrection is a serious Emmy contender. But what do awards experts predict when it comes to the show's nomination chances?

The Emmy nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced on Wednesday, July 15, at 11:30 a.m. ET/8:30 a.m. PT, and it could be an interesting week for the people behind Dexter: Resurrection and some of its fans.

The series was recently promoted with its own For Your Consideration (FYC) event, a clear sign that Paramount has high hopes for the show's awards chances.

But what do the Emmy experts think?

Some major entertainment outlets, including Variety, Entertainment Weekly, and The Hollywood Reporter, recently released their final Emmy nomination predictions. Unfortunately, after taking a close look at those lists, Dexter: Resurrection and its cast are nowhere to be found.

That suggests the chances of the sequel series receiving Emmy recognition are, at least according to experts, very low.

However, that doesn't mean all hope is lost.

Final prediction lists are usually very accurate, but they rarely get everything right. Looking at previous years, these predictions typically have an accuracy rate of around 55% to 76%, meaning there are always a few... surprises when the official nominations are announced.

And yes, Dexter: Resurrection could still be one of those surprises.

The 10-episode first season, which premiered last summer, was highly praised by both fans and critics. Nearly a year after its debut, the series actually holds an impressive and rare 9/10 rating on IMDb and a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes, showing just how well it has been received.

On May 14, Paramount held a For Your Consideration event in New York City featuring several cast and crew members from the series. Michael C. Hall, Jack Alcott, David Zayas, Krysten Ritter, and Eric Stonestreet appeared alongside executive producers Clyde Phillips and Scott Reynolds to promote the show to Television Academy voters.

These events are not cheap, and the fact that Paramount organized one specifically for Dexter: Resurrection says a lot about how much confidence they actually have in the series.

For now, though, Emmy experts are not expecting any nominations for the cast or crew, despite the great reviews and overwhelmingly positive reception. But until the nominations are officially announced, the people behind Dexter: Resurrection still have every reason to hope for a surprise.
