It was a week to remember for Dexter fans. On the occasion of the franchise’s 20th anniversary day, Paramount+ released the hotly anticipated full trailer for the second season of Dexter: Resurrection, giving fans exactly what they wanted.
While the trailer itself generated a lot of excitement, the numbers it attracted within its first 48 hours are expeciallu interesting. We have been closely following the viewership of the full trailer ever since it dropped on YouTube, and the stats actually reveal something worth noting.
Within its first 24 hours on Paramount+’s official YouTube channel, with the trailer also cross-posted through the official Showtime and Dexter channels, the video attracted 3.1 million views.
But it gets even more interesting.
Before the trailer had reached exactly 48 hours since its release on YouTube, that number had climbed to 5.2 million views.
And keep in mind that these numbers come from a single video. They do not include the views from other major channels that also posted the trailer, which is a separate story altogether. The same goes for the official Dexter social media accounts, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X. When all of those views are eventually combined, the total could add several more million views, although we do not have the complete data for those platforms just yet.
Season 2 Trailer Is Outpacing Season 1
Perhaps the most interesting part is actually how these numbers compare to the trailer for the first season of Dexter: Resurrection.
As we reported on Dexter Daily last year, five days after the Season 1 trailer was released, it had attracted around 4.5 million views. The Season 2 trailer has already surpassed that number in less than 40 hours.
Of course, these numbers alone do not tell the whole story, but they do point to something interesting.
Over the past year, since the first season of Dexter: Resurrection wrapped, the show appears to have gained even more attention and new viewers. That growth can also be seen across Dexter’s social media presence, which has continued to expand since the first season premiered.
Twenty years after Dexter first arrived on television, the franchise is still findng new ways to attract viewers. And judging by the early numbers for the Season 2 trailer, Dexter isn’t just still relevant in 2026, its audience actually continues to grow.
