Dexter: Resurrection Completely Snubbed at the 2026 Emmy Nominations

The 2026 Emmy nominations have been announced, and it's as if Dexter: Resurrection never existed.

The complete list of nominees for the 2026 Emmy Awards was unveiled on the morning of July 8, and unfortunately, Dexter: Resurrection was completely shut out.

Despite delivering one of the year's most talked-about and highly rated first seasons, the sequel series failed to receive a single nomination. Even more surprising, none of its cast members earned recognition for their performances, despite big praise from both critics and fans throughout the season.

Best Drama Series

One of the categories where Dexter: Resurrection had a realistic chance of appearing was Outstanding Drama Series. Instead, the nominees are:

The Diplomat
The Gilded Age
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
Paradise
The Pitt
Pluribus
Slow Horses
Your Friends and Neighbors

Best Drama Actor

Many fans hoped to see Michael C. Hall earn another Emmy nomination for his return as Dexter Morgan. Instead, the nominees are:

Sterling K. Brown (Paradise)
Gary Oldman (Slow Horses)
Mark Ruffalo (Task)
Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat)
Noah Wyle (The Pitt)

Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

David Zayas, Jack Alcott, and Peter Dinklage all delivered amazing performances during the season, but none received a nomination. The nominees intead are:

Patrick Ball (The Pitt)
Billy Crudup (The Morning Show)
Shawn Hatosy (The Pitt)
Gerran Howell (The Pitt)
Jack Lowden (Slow Horses)
Tom Pelphrey (Task)
Carlos-Manuel Vesga (Pluribus)

Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series

Uma Thurman's performance was another notable omission. Instead, the category was dominated by The Pitt, which actually earned multiple acting nominations:

Taylor Dearden (The Pitt)
Fiona Dourif (The Pitt)
Allison Janney (The Diplomat)
Katherine LaNasa (The Pitt)
Sepideh Moafi (The Pitt)
Julianne Nicholson (Paradise)
Karolina Wydra (Pluribus)

Best Drama Directing

Dexter: Resurrection also missed out in the directing category. The nominees are:

The Gilded Age — "My Mind Is Made Up"
Paradise — "Exodus"
The Pitt — "12:00 P.M."
Pluribus — "We Is Us"
Slow Horses — "Scars"
Task — "Out Beyond Ideas of Wrongdoing and Rightdoing, There Is a River."

Best Drama Writing

Season 1 writers Scott Reynolds and Clyde Phillips also failed to receive a nomination. Among the season's episodes, many fans believed Episode 4, "Call Me Red," had the strongest chance of breaking into the category. Instead, the nominees are:

The Diplomat — "Amagansett"
The Pitt — "1:00 P.M."
The Pitt — "12:00 P.M."
Pluribus — "We Is Us"
Slow Horses — "Scars"
Task — "A Still Small Voice"

While the lack of nominations may disappoint fans and of course people behind the show, it was not entirely unexpected. Some mainstreem outlets predicted last week that Dexter: Resurrection would be left out of this year's Emmy race.

Still, considering how much attention the series actually keeps on receiving, along with its very positive reviews and audience response, many will feel that the show's first season deserved far more recognition than it ended up receiving.
