Michael C. Hall and Krysten Ritter were spotted together on the set of Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 on the morning of July 8.
Filming for Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection continued in New York City this week, marking the production's 13th consecutive week. It comes on a bittersweet day for the cast and crew, following the announcement that the show's first season failed to receive a single nomination at the 2026 Emmy Awards.
Still, production moves forward. On the morning of July 8, photographer Jose Perez spotted Michael C. Hall and Krysten Ritter filming a scene in Queens, New York. The two actors were seen in character shooting outdoors in broad daylight, exactly one week after the last set photos of them together surfaced online.
What actually makes the biggest impression is that both actors appear to be wearing the exact same outfits they were seen in during the June 30/July 1 filming session.
Hall's Dexter Morgan is once again dressed in his incognito look, complete with a black hat and black shirt. Meanwhile, Ritter's Mia Lapierre is wearing the same red snakeskin dress with a gray-blue denim jacket over it.
The matching wardrobe probably means that the scenes filmed a week apart are part of the same storyline, giving another glimpse at what appears to be a some sort of a mission involving the two characters.
Dexter and Mia Appear to Be Watching Someone
The new photos suggest that Dexter Morgan and Lady Vengeance are up to something together.
Based on what can be seen in the images, the pair appear to be watching someone from a distance. Both characters seem surprised by whatever they are witnessing, hinting that whatever the situation is, it may not be unfolding as expected.
As you can see in the side-by-side images below, Dexter can be seen leaning against a parked car while trying to stay out of sight. Mia stands directly behind him, using his position for cover as well.
The images also seem to suggest that the relationship between the two characters has evolved significantly since Season 1 Episode 5, when Dexter framed Lady Vengeance in an attempt to stop her from carrying out her... "plans." Despite that betrayal, hte latest set photos make it look as though they are now working together and may have even formed an alliance!
Who Are They Watching?
The biggest mystery raised by these images is actually simple. Who exactly are Dexter and Mia watching?
Honestly, the possibilities are almost endless. They could be tracking another serial killer, a potential victim, or investigating someone connected to a bigger threat. At this point, there is simply not enough information to know for sure.
These new photos may also provide the strongest evidence yet that Krysten Ritter is returning as a living Mia Lapierre rather than as a figment of Dexter's imagination.
And we say that, because when news of Ritter's involvement in Season 2 first emerged, many fans speculated that Mia could appear only in Dexter's mind, given that the character died during Season 1. However, these latest images actually make that theory increasingly difficult to support, as Mia appears to be actively participating in events alongside Dexter.
Could Season 2 Finally Resolve Their... Unfinished Story?
Another question that comes to mind after seeing these photo is whether this alliance is leading somewhere more... personal. Season 1 seemed to leave some unfinished business between Dexter and Mia, and these new images will undoubtedly give the impression that the two characters could come even closer in Season 2.
The significant time jump between Seasons 1 and 2 could help explain how certain relationships have changed, but it's also likely that the biggest surprises have yet to be revealed.
