Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Just Started Filming Episode 3 — and Five Main Characters Were Just Spotted Together

A very intriguing scene took place in downtown Manhattan on May 20, unexpectedly bringing five major stars together.

The second season of Dexter: Resurrection has now filmed two episodes, and on Wednesday, May 20, production officially began on Episode 3. One of the biggest scenes of the day was filmed right in the heart of New York City, bringing together not one, not two, but five major characters in the same location.

Warning: the following story contains spoiler images and speculation for the upcoming season.

Filming for the first day of Episode 3 actually took place in Downtown Manhattan, and some new set photos surfaced online courtesy of photographer Jose Perez and Bauer-Griffin, whose ongoing coverage of the production continues to be hugely appreciated.

Interestingly, the scene was filmed at the exact same location where Dexter and Charley had dinner during the previous night shoot. This time, however, everything takes place in broad daylight. Episode 3 is being directed by Erica Dunton, marking her first time directing an episode in the Dexter franchise. So, which characters were gathered together for this major scene?

Actors spotted on set included Jack Alcott as Harrison, new cast member Nona Parker Johnson as Harrison’s new NYPD colleague Fiona Mixon, Dominic Fumusa as Melvin Oliva, Kadia Saraf as Claudette Wallace, and, surprisingly, Brian Cox, who plays the elusive serial killer New York Ripper, the same man Wallace has been hunting for decades.

Don Framt’s presence (Cox’s stunt double was also there) at the crime scene actually suggests that his apartment is located nearby, meaning he likely lives somewhere in Manhattan. It also reinforces the idea that he prefers blending in with ordinary civilians in order to appear normal and harmless, despite the disturbing and dark past hinted at throughout the first season.

Since the scene takes place at the exact same location used during filming with Michael C. Hall and Uma Thurman on May 18 and 19, it appears to directly connect to the crime that interrupted Dexter and Charley’s dinner just a few feet away, as previously revealed in the spoiler images we shared earlier.

Now, in these latest set photos, the NYPD has arrived to investigate that same crime scene. Based on clues and evidence from filming, the incident seems to involve a man falling from a building. The location itself is actually one of the busiest areas in the city, and crowds of civilians portrayed by background actors were seen taking photos of the crime scene. News reporters were also spotted filming at the scene, suggesting that the case could be tied to a notorious serial killer, possibly the Five Borough Killer, played by Dan Stevens.

As seen in the image above, Kadia Saraf was spotted sitting at the exact table and chair where Dexter sat with Charley during the nighttime shoot. If this is an intentional character moment as Detective Wallace (and not simply the actress relaxing between takes) it is a clever and ironic choice by the director.

Unknowingly, she is actually sitting in the same chair, mirroring a Dexter who was once just as obsessed with solving crimes during his time at Miami Metro. To top it all off, she is even wearing a remarkably similar henley, the exact style and color Dexter wore/wears on his kill missions.
