Fresh photos have surfaced from a May 19 night shoot in Manhattan, directly teasing serious danger for these two characters.
Filming for Dexter: Resurrection has now continued for six straight weeks, and this week especially has delivered plenty of content from the set, thanks once again to NYC photo agency Bauer-Griffin, which rarely misses an opportunity to capture scenes during production.
Warning: The following story contains major spoilers for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2!
The latest set images, taken on Tuesday, May 19, are both exciting and terrifying at the same time, as they appear to reveal a sudden danger that catches Dexter Morgan and Charley Brown completely off guard at the same wine bar where the two characters were spotted filming on May 18.
For the second night in a row, both Michael C. Hall and Uma Thurman filmed scenes together outside Flatiron Wines & Spirits in downtown Manhattan, but this time the atmosphere seemed very different.
The scenes between Hall and Thurman actually looked almost identical to the ones filmed the previous night, although their outfits had slightly changed. Hall was once again seen as Dexter wearing a gray shirt, but this time it was long-sleeved instead of short-sleeved. Thurman’s outfit was also slightly different, though the overall setup, including the food on the table, looked nearly the same. So... what exactly happens that points to sudden danger for the duo?
While we obviously can’t know for sure what is happening in the scene, the images released by the photo agency strongly suggest that Dexter and Charley’s dinner is suddenly interrupted by something violent coming from above, possibly from a nearby apartment or rooftop on the same block. One possibility is a gunshot aimed at either Dexter or Charley.
As you can see in the side-by-side photos below, both characters suddenly stand up in panic while looking upward, as if they are trying to figure out where a bullet or even a loud noise came from. Another image, which you can also see below, actually shows Hall and Thurman ducking for cover, like they are trying to avoid something flying toward them.

But the most interesting detail comes from another set image taken farther away, which gives a clearer look at the area surrounding Dexter and Charley during the scene. As you can see in the photo below, where the large red arrow points on the right side, there appears to be a crew member suspended by wires above a kiosk located just a few feet away from the table where the two main actors are sitting.
We can’t say with... complete certainty whether this is simply a crew member working above the set, but there’s also a strong chance this person is actually a stunt performer preparing for a fall sequence. If that’s the case, then the scene may not involve gunfire at all. Instead, it is possible that someone suddenly falls from a nearby building and crashes onto the kiosk seen below.
As it is actually seen in the main image at the top of this article, Dexter appears genuinely terrified during the sequence, and the same goes for Charley, since whatever happens clearly comes out of nowhere
It’s honestly surprising to see such spoiler-heavy set images make their way online, especially considering that this particular photographer is not only regularly allowed near the Dexter: Resurrection set, but is sometimes it seems like he is invited to cover filming.
Also, it is important to remember that many set photos never actually get released publicly, especially when they reveal major plot details. That could very well be the case here too. There may be additional photos that provide full context for what happens in the scene, but those images may never surface online.
So what do you think is really happening in this scene? Is it a shooting, a body falling from above, or something entirely different?
