The father-son relationship is about to enter an entirely new chapter, and it is unlike anything fans have seen before, according to Jack Alcott.

Brace yourselves, Dexter fans, because Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection is set to bring a huge change to Dexter and Harrison’s relationship. The confirmation came from Jack Alcott, who revealed that the new season will change the dynamic between the two main characters in a way we have never seen before.
During the recent Dexter: Resurrection FYC Q&A panel alongside his co-stars, Alcott spoke to ScreenRant’s Liam Crowley about how their bond will evolve in Season 2, explaining that going through intense experiences together naturally brings people closer.
He reflected on how viewers have watched Dexter and Harrison repeatedly drift apart and reconnect over the years, while also pointing out that their relationship has actually gone through situations far beyond what most father-son duos would ever experience.
Alcott also teased that Season 2 will explore a version of Dexter and Harrison shaped by everything they survived together so far.
Evolving From Father and Son to... “Friends and Equals”
According to him, the two characters will continue learning from each other while developing not only as father and son, but also as friends and equals. He added that this new stage of their relationship will feel more mature and in his own words “lived in” compared to any previous version we fans have seen before.
This is genuinely exciting news and makes the upcoming second season of Dexter: Resurrection even more anticipated.
Looking back at the history of the franchise, Harrison Morgan has always played a huge role in Dexter’s emotional journey. Ever since Dex became a father during the events of Season 4, his outlook on life slowly started to change. That actually continued all the way through Season 8, when Dexter chose to leave Harrison with Hannah McKay just to protect him from the darkness surrounding his own life.
Nearly ten years after faking his death, Dexter came back into our lives, this time set in the quiet town of Iron Lake, New York, living in isolation before Harrison eventually tracked him down in search of answers. That was the moment the older version of Harrison (the one we know today) was introduced in Dexter: New Blood.
While his introduction was a big moment for the franchise, it is no secret that Harrison’s return in New Blood... divided viewers. A large portion of the audience struggled with the direction the writers took with the teenage version of the character. While Harrison’s anger toward Dexter was completely understandable after being abandoned as a child, many fans actually felt the tension and resentment between them became repetitive and exhausting.
Of course, that conflict eventually led to Harrison killing his own father in the New Blood finale, which was so controversial, it created huge backlash online and even resulted in some... fans sending hateful messages toward Alcott himself.
Thankfully, Dexter: Resurrection is a thing, and already introduced a noticeably different version of Harrison in Season 1, despite the timeline picking up less than three months after New Blood. It was obvious that the creative team really paid attention to fan feedback and adjusted the character accordingly. Harrison now is more balanced, and definitely far more enjoyable to watch.
Now, hearing that Season 2 will continue building a stronger and more supportive relationship between the two is genuinely refreshing.
Dexter has made countless terrible mistakes throughout his life, but after everything these two characters have gone through, seeing them finally reach a healthier place as father and son actually feels earned. We can say that Season 1 already hinted at that emotional change, but it now sounds like Season 2 will take it to a whole different level.
And honestly, we can’t wait to see what’s next for the Morgan duo!
