Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Has Two Powerful Ways to Bring Back Lady Vengeance

Like Krysten Ritter herself has suggested multiple times over the past few months, Mia Lapierre might not be done with Dexter.

As the second season of Dexter: Resurrection moves deeper into development, it is only natural for us fans to start speculating about where the story could actually go next for everyone’s favorite antihero. What has already been confirmed is that Dexter and Harrison will remain in New York City, a setting that opens the door to countless new storylines and more...dangerous opportunities for the father-son duo.

Even so, and despite the ghosts of his past continuing to follow him, Dexter still has unfinished business. This is especially true now that his former friends and colleagues in Miami are forced to deal with the death of Angel Batista. But beyond Miami, Dexter’s attention may be pulled back to someone he encountered midway through season one: Al Walker, played by Eric Stonestreet, better known by his moniker, Rapunzel.

Rapunzel remains a looming target after being introduced through Leon Prater’s twisted gathering, yet there’s another figure from season one whose fate feels...far less settled. One character widely believed to be dead may, in fact, be very much alive. Hints dropped both on screen and off suggest that this individual could have actually faked her death to escape prison. That character is Mia Lapierre, also known as Lady Vengeance.

Portrayed with charm by Krysten Ritter, Mia Lapierre was introduced as a sommelier hiding a dark secret. Both viewers and Dexter himself were kind of slow to see her true nature. While she had a public image as a killer with a moral code who targeted predators, the truth was far uglier. Mia killed innocent men simply because she enjoyed it, a revelation that shattered Dexter’s perception of her.

That discovery hit Dexter hard, especially since he and Mia had formed a genuine connection during their time together. The chemistry between Michael C. Hall and Krysten Ritter was undeniable, maknig their scenes together some of the most pleasant to watch in season one. Ultimately, Dexter felt he had no actual choice. To protect Harrison from accusations tied to Ryan Foster’s murder, he framed Mia, turning her over to the authorities. And the plan worked.

Lady Vengeance was sent to prison, only to be reported dead shortly afterward in her cell. The official explanation was that Leon Prater had a...habit of eliminating every serial killer he knew once they were arrested, ensuring their silence about the truth behind his twisted obsession with killers. On the surface, Mia appeared to be just another casualty of Prater’s cleanup operation. Yet it didn’t actually take long for some doubts to be raised about whether Lady Vengeance was truly gone.

Since episode six, “Cats and Mouse,” fans have clung to the theory that Mia faked her death with help from Charley, Prater’s now former right-hand. But what truly fueled this theory was Krysten Ritter herself, who openly supported the idea in public discussions, something rarely seen in situations like this.

Then came the season one finale, which strongly hinted that Lady Vengeance might still be alive through a certain detail in Prater’s files. Ritter even highlighted this clue during an interview on Dexter:  Final Cut aftershow. Although showrunner Clyde Phillips later claimed the moment wasn’t intentional, the fact that it exists at all, definitely leaves the door wide open.

With all that in mind, we have for you two powerful and believable ways Mia Lapierre could return in Dexter: Resurrection season two, and either path would make her comeback...unforgettable!

1. Revenge Against Dexter for Turning Her to the police

The most straightforward and perhaps most satisfying scenario is one that fully embraces Mia’s moniker. If Lady Vengeance survived and faked her death, taking revenge on Dexter would be hte natural next step. From her perspective, he didn’t only expose her true nature, he actually betrayed her and framed her to protect his son, costing her freedom and...nearly her life.

At the time of her supposed death, Mia had no idea who Dexter truly was, as she still thought he was Red, The Dark Passenger Killer. If she were to uncover his real identity, the stakes would skyrocket. Exposing Dexter Morgan as the Bay Harbor Butcher to the world would be the ultimate act of revenge, turning the hunter into...the hunted. It is the kind of calculated payoff that actually fits nicely within the DNA of the show, proving once again that revenge is best served cold!

2. Dexter Will Try to Fix Her and Give Her a Code

The second option is more complex and emotionally charged, but it could offer an even richer payoff. In this scenario, Mia tracks Dexter down in New York, driven by rage and ready to kill him for what he did. Instead of fighting back, Dexter makes her an unexpected offer: redemption. He offers to teach her a version of Harry’s Code, giving her structure, purpose, and a way to channel her violent urges toward people who truly deserve it.

This path would allow Mia to finally live up to the name Lady Vengeance in a meaningful way, transforming her from a chaotic killer into something closer to what she once pretended to be. It would also deepen Dexter’s ongoing struggle with his own moral contradictions, especially as he attempts to “fix” someone who actually mirrors his own darkness. On top of that, it would bring full circle the romantic tension that was teased so many times during season one, potentially turning Dexter and Mia into a...dangerously compelling couple!

In the end, bringing Mia Lapierre back into Dexter: Resurrection season two makes sense in so many levels. It would be intriguing, emotionally chrged, and of course deeply rooted in what the show has already established.

With Krysten Ritter repeatedly expressing her desire to return to the role, and the role tailored just for her from her friend from the Jessica Jones era Scott Reynolds, it feels less like a long shot and more like an opportunity waiting to actually be seized.
