Krysten Ritter Teases More Lady Vengeance Following Dexter: Resurrection Episode 6 Twist

“Maybe it’s not the end” the actress said in a new interview about Episode 6's events.

Note: The following article contains major spoilers for Dexter: Resurrection Episode 6, “Cats & Mouse.”

Episode 6 of Dexter: Resurrection delivered one of the season’s most jaw-dropping twists. While the Gemini Killer reveal stole the spotlight, another shocking moment left fans stunned—and divided: the apparent death of Mia Lapierre, a.k.a. Lady Vengeance.

Introduced just two episodes earlier during Leon Prater’s now-infamous dinner party, Mia quickly became a standout character. Portrayed by Krysten Ritter, she exuded mystery, danger, and undeniable chemistry with Dexter—who, at the time, was operating under his “Red” persona.

A Connection That Could Have Been Something More

After their first meeting, Dexter and Mia bonded instantly, seemingly united by a similar moral code. The next day, they were seen jogging together in Central Park, sharing a heartfelt conversation about Mia’s early life.

In Episode 5, their mutual intrigue deepened. While they never kissed, the romantic tension was unmistakable. Fans began rooting for them as a dark, twisted power couple in the making.

But halfway through that same episode, everything changed. Mia dropped a chilling confession—she didn’t live by a code. She simply enjoyed killing. That revelation sent Dexter’s internal alarms blaring. Later that night, outside a bar, Mia’s mask fully slipped. She was ready to claim another victim—a random man she’d just met.

Dexter intervened, ultimately arranging for her arrest. By the end of Episode 5, Mia was behind bars. Enter Charley—Prater’s right-hand woman—who delivered the same cryptic message she sends to any serial killer aware of Prater’s obsession: a not-so-subtle warning to keep their mouth shut.

Episode 6 – The “Self-Inflicted Death” of Lady Vengeance

In Episode 6, that warning became deadly serious. Charley bribed a prison guard that works where Mia was being held. Soon after, the guard was seen in her cell pretending to rescue her, and the official story became that she took her own life.

When Angel Batista, Detective Claudette Wallace, and Melvin Oliva arrived for a scheduled interrogation with Mia about a lead connected to Dexter, prison alarms blared. They rushed to her cell—only to find her lifeless body.

For viewers, it seemed like the definitive end of Lady Vengeance. But… is it really?

Krysten Ritter Drops a Big Hint

Following the episode’s release, Krysten Ritter spoke to Collider and delivered a tantalizing tease. When the interviewer expressed disappointment over Mia’s death and suggested she deserved her own spinoff, Ritter responded:

“Well, I wouldn’t count me out yet.” She added: “For me, this role was absolute candy, and I had so much fun doing it. So, we’ll see. Maybe it’s not the end of this character. We’ll see.”

The Lady Vengeance Spinoff Rumors

Back in May, Dexter Daily reported on early whispers that Showtime and Paramount+ were exploring spinoffs from Dexter: Resurrection. Among the rumored concepts? A Lady Vengeance series centered on Mia Lapierre.

The speculation gained traction because of Ritter’s established relationship with Dexter co-showrunner Scott Reynolds, with whom she worked for three seasons on Jessica Jones. In fact, Reynolds named Mia after his beloved dog—a detail that suggests her role was never meant to be a short-lived cameo.

The “She’s Not Really Dead” Theory

If Ritter’s hint wasn’t enough, Episode 6 leaves a few doors open for Mia’s return. Consider this:

  • The prison guard who “found” her body was the very same one Charley bribed.
  • He was also the one who checked her pulse and claimed she was dead.
  • If Charley wanted to protect Mia instead of killing her, faking a her death would be the perfect way to get her out quietly.
  • Makeup, staging, and an inside accomplice could have made the illusion flawless.

It’s entirely possible that Mia’s “death” was a carefully orchestrated escape.

It All Depends on Showtime

Ultimately, Mia’s fate may hinge on whether Paramount+ greenlights a Lady Vengeance spinoff. Ritter’s charisma, the character’s dark allure, and her complex dynamic with Dexter make her one of the most compelling new additions to the franchise.

If Showtime wants to expand Dexter’s universe with fresh, fan-favorite characters, Mia Lapierre’s story is far from over.

What Do You Think?

Do you believe Mia is truly dead, or was her was happened was just a cover-up? Would you watch a Lady Vengeance spinoff starring Krysten Ritter?

Sound off in the comments—this might be just the beginning for Mia Lapierre.
