The idea of Bryan Cranston joining the Dexter universe is back in the spotlight, and this time, it’s all thanks to a live TV invitation from Jack Alcott.
During an appearance on the Canadian morning show TMS2 in Toronto to promote Dexter: Resurrection, Alcott who portrays Harrison Morgan, was asked by the hosts if there was a celebrity or fellow actor he would love to see join the cast for Season 3.
Alcott didn't actually hesitate to share his choice. Playfully pointing his finger toward the camera as if speaking directly to the former Breaking Bad star, he made a direct pitch:
"I've said this before and I'm going to say it again because I want to make it happen. Bryan Cranston, come play with the Dexter cast!"
He later added that everyone who had heard the idea reacted positively. Because the invitation happened on live television, it actually felt spontaneous, fun, and gave fans something more to talk about.
Why the Bryan Cranston Rumors Won't Go Away
This isn't the first time Cranston’s name has been tied to the franchise. In the weeks following the first season of Dexter: Resurrection, a major rumor circulated among fans suggesting that the actor best known for playing Walter White was joining Season 2 as the New York Ripper.
Back in April, even the show's executive producers appeared to play along with the rumors on Instagram, briefly convincing fans that Cranston had officially joined the cast. However, just days later, it was revealed that Brian Cox and not Bryan Cranston, would be playing the notorious serial killer.
Now, with Alcott publicly inviting him on live television, the fan conversation will be reignited.
Could Cranston Actually Join Season 3?
There's definitely a possibility that Bryan Cranston could eventually join the cast of Dexter: Resurrection. After all, the franchise has a history of attracting major Hollywood names, with the most recent and (potentially) biggest one being Uma Thurman, one of the most recognizable stars in the industry.
Of course, Alcott's invitation was playful, and it doesn't confirm that Cranston is currently being considered for a role. Still, the idea isn't difficult to imagine given the show's track record of bringing well-known actors into Dexter Morgan's life.
Fans have been... dreaming about a showdown between Dexter Morgan and Walter White since the early 2010s. While an actual crossover between the two characters remains a different story, seeing Cranston face off against Dexter in a completely new role could be the closest fans ever get to that fantasy.
For now, Alcott's invitation is simply an enthusiastic pitch rather than a casting announcement. But considering how many fans would love to see Cranston enter the so-called "Dexterverse," it's definitely an idea worth keeping alive.
