The celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Dexter franchise is happening in the strongest way possible, and along with the full trailer release, one of the biggest highlights is the official reveal of the main poster for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2.
For the 12th consecutive time in the history of the franchise, the key art once again features Michael C. Hall as the titular character. This time around, however, he is actually holding something that we can easily assume is connected to what the second season will be about, among other things. And that is Dexter’s midlife crisis.
Our favorite antihero is seen holding a pair of multifocal glasses, as the horizontal lines on the lenses suggest, while cleaning them with his right hand. As you may have already noticed, the full version of the new poster is quite different from the partial version revealed recently.
The newly unveiled poster actually shows Dexter cleaning what appear to be drops of blood from his glasses, with most of the blood also visible on his face.
The season’s slogan, which appears at the top of the poster, is “Back and Sharper Than Ever.” The tagline mirrors the one featured in the first teaser trailer and suggests that Dexter will have to be as smart and careful as possible now that he is in his 50s and dealing with physical changes to his body.
Compared to the key art for Dexter: Resurrection Season 1, this new poster definitely feels darker in tone. In fact, it seems to reflect what was recently revealed through the season’s official synopsis, which described Season 2 as the darkest season of Dexter yet.
