Mystery Solved: New Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Set Photos Reveal a First Look at a Major Return

Fresh set photos from June 30 confirm the return of a dead Season 1 character in the best way possible.

Cameras continue to roll in New York City for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, and Week 12 of production keeps delivering some surprising details from the set. And these latest photos you're about to see, may have just put some fan theories to rest.

New set images show Michael C. Hall filming scenes for Episode 5, directed by Marcos Siega. Hall is once again in character as Dexter Morgan, wearing a very similar low-key outfit while shooting in Brookly. And just like in previous set images from 6/29, he wasn't alone.

A returning character who was actually believed to be dead was right there with him, which solves a big mystery.

And that character is Mia Lapierre, better known as Lady Vengeance, played by Krysten Ritter.

New Set Photos Confirm Mia Lapierre Is Actually Alive

In the photos, Dexter and Mia are seen having lunch outside a Brooklyn restaurant. More importantly, Mia appears alive and well, seemingly confirming that she faked her death in Season 1's "Cats & Mouse" in order to escape prison.

What's especially interesting is that nothing about the scene suggests Mia is a hallucination or a ghost haunting Dexter. The table has two bottles of beer and two glasses of water, implying in the best way possible that Lady Vengeance is physically there with him.

Ritter was wearing a short red dress with black patterns and a gray-blue denim jacket. She appeared playful throughout the scene, approaching Dexter's table while holding her phone.

As for the nature of their reunion, that's still a mystery. However, nothing in the photos suggests any immediate conflict between the two.

Is There Romantic Tension Between Dexter and Mia?

Dexter and Mia are seen having an intense but discreet conversation. There even appears to be some romantic tension between them. At one point, Mia leaves the table and seems to whisper something into Dexter's ear before walking away!

It's possible that Episode 5 will mark Mia Lapierre's first appearance in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2. What is interesting is that her return seems to have been revealed almost immediately after Krysten Ritter re-joined the cast, which is exactly what happened during Season 1.

The last time Dexter and Mia shared a scene was in Episode 5 of Season 1. During what started as a romantic date, Mia revealed that she had no code and simply enjoyed killing men for fun. That confession frustrated Dexter in a very big way, and forced him to take action.

But, instead of putting her on his table, Dexter framed Mia for the murder of Ryan Foster. The move also saved Harrison from being charged with the murder he committed in the series premiere.

Is Lady Vengeance Back for Revenge?

Based on these new set photos, it's entirely possible that Lady Vengeance has returned to settle things with Dexter for what he actually did to her.

Then again, Dexter: Resurrection has already proven that it loves surprising its audience. Whether Mia is seeking revenge, forming an alliance with Dex, or something else entirely remains to be seen. At this point, everything is open.

What we should keep in mind is that Lady Vengeance is alive, and her return could have bad consequences for Dexter Morgan in Season 2.
