In an unexpected turn of events, all signs now point to Dexter: Resurrection skipping this year's San Diego Comic-Con altogether.
One of the most highly anticipated events of every summer for pop culture fans is San Diego Comic-Con, and this year's convention is set to take place from July 23 to July 26. But while most Dexter fans expected Dexter: Resurrection to have a presence at the event, it has now become clear that the sequel series will be skipping this year's Comic-Con.
The confirmation actually comes from San Diego Comic-Con's full daily schedule, which has now been released to the public. Unfortunately for fans, Dexter: Resurrection is nowhere to be found on the schedule.
As for why Dexter: Resurrection is skipping SDCC 2026, there has been no official explanation. However, the most likely reason is that Season 2 is currently filming in New York City, making it difficult for the cast and crew to travel to San Diego without affecting production.
That said, it wouldn't have been unprecedented for the team to attend a major event while filming. Last year, Michael C. Hall, David Zayas, Clyde Phillips, and Scott Reynolds traveled to Mexico City for CCXP Mexico 2025 to promote the show while the final episodes of Season 1 were still being filmed.
This news actually comes as a surprise, especially compared to last year when promotion was in full swing. Because Dexter: Resurrection won't have a dedicated panel, there won't be the usual cast interviews, behind-the-scenes reveals, or other exciting Comic-Con announcements.
This is disappointing news, as many fans were hoping for a Season 2 panel featuring the cast and creative team, along with new story teases and possibly even the first teaser trailer with fresh footage. Instead, none of that will be happening this year, despite the Dexter franchise celebrating its 20th anniversary this October.
For now, this means fans may have to wait a little longer for major Season 2 updates. With Comic-Con 2026 no longer on the table, one of the biggest opportunities for new reveals, interviews, and first-look footage has officially passed.
