Dan Stevens Spotted as the Unsettling Five Borough Killer on Dexter: Resurrection Set

The actor, who is set to play a big role in the upcoming season, was spotted filming scenes in Brooklyn on July 17.

A new week on the set of Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 is about to begin, and before it does, let's look back at Week 14 of production. This time, the spotlight is on one of the show's newest series regulars, Dan Stevens, who is set to play one of the season's two main villains opposite Dexter Morgan.

Stevens will portray Owen Stark, better known as the Five Borough Killer. According to the official character description, Stark is a serial killer that enjoys taunting law enforcement with chilling phone calls, threatening the lives of innocent people while staying one step ahead of the authorities.

Although this isn't the first time Stevens has been spotted filming this year, there are a few interesting details worth pointing out. Just like during his previous set appearances, he was seen filming alone in character. This time, however, he actually swapped the blue shirt and hoodie he had been wearing before for a simple gray shirt.

Another detail is the phone he's carrying. Rather than using a modern smartphone, Stark appears to be holding an old-school cellphone, likely making it much harder for investigators to trace the disturbing calls he makes to his victims and the police.

These photos were taken on Thursday, July 17, by paparazzo Jose Perez of the Bauer-Griffin photo agency. They were likely captured while filming scenes for Episode 6, 7, or possibly even Episode 8. While Episode 8 was recently teased as being in production, that doesn't necessarily mean filming has already reached that point, as exterior scenes are often shot out of order for scheduling reasons.

Behind-the-Scenes Props Reveal Interesting Details

Week 14 also brought a fun behind-the-scenes update from executive producer and writer Scott Reynolds, who shared photos on X showing some of the production's prop storage.

The props are neatly organized in semi-transparent plastic boxes with labels on the outside, making it easy for the crew to find exactly what they need. As a... bonus, the labels also give us a small glimpse behind the curtain.

Among the labeled boxes are supplies for blood and dirt effects, aging and dyeing products, nipple covers and tape, and another container simply labeled "distressing." Exactly what's inside that last box is actually unknown, but it's certainly an intriguing name!

With Week 15 now underway, filming is expected to continue without interruption, as the cast and crew of Dexter: Resurrection will not be attending San Diego Comic-Con this year.
