While we still don't have an official confirmation about the villains these two famous men will play, there may already be subtle hints about them.
During week three of production for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, two major casting additions quietly surfaced, and not in the usual way. Instead of an official announcement, the first reveal actually came from a behind-the-scenes photo shared by a writer between takes. Just a few hours later, another name popped up through fresh set photos.
Those names were Kane Hodder, best known for playing Jason Voorhees in multiple Friday the 13th films, and Chris Jericho, a legendary figure in the wrestling world. While fans got excited fast, there’s one problem, as no official details about their roles have been released yet. No character names, no descriptions, nothing.
Still, there is already strong evidence suggesting that both will be playing serial killers that Dexter Morgan will face in Season 2.
To piece things together, we actually have to go back to the Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 finale. In the final episode, Dexter finds himself trapped inside Leon Prater’s vault after the murder of Angel Batista. While searching for a way out, he stumbles upon hidden drawers filled with files containing detailed information on various serial killers.
So the big question is which of those killers could Jericho and Hodder be playing?
Looking closely at the file names shown in Episode 10, four serial killer monikers appear to be deliberate teases for future killers: Sleepy Eyed Stranger, Jawsplitter, Midnight Mangler, and Yonkers Slayer. It’s very likely that the two new cast members will be tied to two of these names, unless the show introduces entirely new killers from unseen files, which honestly seems less likely at this point.
Now, narrowing it down even more, there are a few clues. Recent set photos show Chris Jericho filming late at night, and even though it was filmed in Brooklyn, the place reportedly underwent some changes in order to look like this city 2,800 away from New York City. So, that makes him an unlikely fit for the Yonkers Slayer. Instead, Midnight Mangler actually is like the strongest possibility.
As for Kane Hodder, things are a bit more open, but there’s still something to go on. A behind-the-scenes image shared by writer Scott Reynolds shows him alongside Marcos Siega and Clyde Phillips on a set where Hodder was also spotted. The location looks like a warehouse, with the phrase “Hell Awaits” painted in red on the wall. Another image shows an upside-down NYC subway sign (possibly a trophy) and a furnace in the background.
None of these details actually confirm anything outright, but they do give some hints. Based on that environment, Yonkers Slayer seems like a potential match for Hodder.
So while nothing has been officially confirmed yet, the clues from set photos and the Season 1 finale give us a pretty solid idea of what to expect. We should get official details and confirmation soon enough.
