Prater’s Files: Every Serial Killer Dexter Will Target in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2

The final scene of Season 1 provided a tantalizing glimpse of what’s to come in Season 2.

Dexter: Resurrection may have wrapped up its first season, but one thing is certain: the darkness endures. The Dark Passenger is far from done. Even without an official Paramount+ renewal, the chilling final scene of Episode 10, “And Justice for All,” hinted at what lies ahead — and fans are already dissecting every clue.

After a 10-week coma that left him stripped of all activity, Dexter Morgan gradually found his way back to the rituals that once defined him. Unlike his conflicted self in Dexter: New Blood, this revived version of Dexter feels sharper, more self-aware, and more confident than ever. He’s no longer running from who he is — and for the first time, Harrison also accepts his father’s true nature.

Season 1 gave longtime fans what they had been craving: classic Dexter kills, complete with plastic-wrapped kill rooms and blood slides, a ritual abandoned back in Season 7 at Debra’s insistence. More than a decade later, the Code of Harry is still here, and Dexter is following it with renewed precision.

Dexter’s Victims in Dexter: Resurrection Season 1

Following the accidental death of Sergeant Logan in New Blood, Dexter’s credibility as a follower of the Code was shaken. But Season 1 of Resurrection reset the balance.

  • Ronald Schmidt (The Dark Passenger Killer) – Dexter’s first victim in the revival, Schmidt targeted rideshare drivers. By eliminating him Dexter reclaimed his identity but also assumed Schmidt's identity in order make use of the invitation at Prater's serial killer club.
  • Lowell (The Tattoo Collector) – Introduced at Leon Prater’s sinister dinner party, Lowell met his end in the very same episode.
  • Gareth and His Twin (The Gemini Killers) – An arrogant and deadly duo who didn’t stand a chance against Dexter’s sharpened instincts.
  • Leon Prater – The billionaire obsessed with serial killers, and the most significant kill of the season. After murdering Angel Batista, Prater fit the Code perfectly and his death closed Season 1 with a bang.

The Vault of Serial Killers: Season 2’s Setup

While trapped inside Prater’s vault, Dexter stumbled upon a treasure trove of files on active serial killers. Each file contained names, cities, and chilling details. By stuffing as many as he could into a bag during his escape, Dexter unknowingly created a roadmap for Season 2.

And just before the finale faded to black, we were teased with several disturbing monikers.

The Killers Named in Dexter’s New Files

1. Jawsplitter – A gruesome nickname given by the press. No M.O. confirmed yet, but the name alone suggests something grotesque.

2. Midnight Mangler – The word “mangler” implies someone who mutilates and destroys. A terrifying challenge awaits.

3. Yonkers Slayer – The only confirmed New York–based killer, making him a likely target early in Season 2.

4. Rapunzel (aka Al) – Everyone remembers Al from Prater’s circle, a Wisconsin family man with multiple kids. Dexter nearly claimed him in Episode 8, but Al slipped away — for now.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed one "top-secret file" left deliberately hidden in the Season 1 finale and the serial killer behind it remains a mystery.

It’s worth noting that it is not related to the New York Ripper, as Detective Claudette Wallace separately uncovered the file on the infamous killer inside Prater’s vault — meaning that Dexter does not have access to personal information about him.

What’s Next for Dexter?

With a fresh kill list and a city full of potential targets, Dexter Morgan is poised to dive deeper than ever into his Dark Passenger. Season 2 promises a return to the cat-and-mouse thrills that defined the original series, while pushing Dexter into uncharted territory.

Which of these new killers intrigues you the most? Could Jawsplitter, Midnight Mangler, or Rapunzel become Dexter’s most challenging adversary yet? Share your theories in the comments.
