Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Trailer Could Drop Way Sooner Than Fans Expect

Since season 2 is already filming, many fans are wondering when we'll get the first trailer.

Michael C. Hall and the rest of the Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 cast are already deep into filming the highly anticipated next chapter in New York City. At this point, it’s only natural that fans are starting to ask the big question. And that is when will we get the first trailer, or even the official trailer?

And the excitement actually makes sense. A teaser or trailer will finally give us a real look at the new season, showing both returning and new characters in action, along with the direction of the story as Dexter Morgan settles into life in the Big Apple. And when it comes to a (teaser) trailer, there’s a good chance it could arrive sooner than many expect.

To get a better idea of when the Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 trailer might drop, it helps to look back at Paramount’s strategy for Season 1. Production for the first season began on January 9, 2025, and the first teaser trailer didn’t arrive until April 29. That was the amazing “Dexter Is Dead” teaser, with Michael C. Hall holding a newspaper, something that many of us still remember.

That puts the gap between filming and the teaser at about three months and 20 days. The official trailer followed not long after, arriving on May 31, just over a month later, and actually giving us our first real footage from the series.

Now, 2026 looks a bit different, and there’s a really good reason to believe things could move faster this time.

A big factor here is San Diego Comic-Con, which is set to take place from July 23 to July 26. Dexter has a long history with Comic-Con going back to 2008, so it’s actually very likely Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 will have a panel there.

If that happens, it’s the perfect stage for the official trailer to premiere. This is something studios very often do when a new season is getting closer to release, especially when there’s a dedicated panel and a built-in audience.

Before that, though, a teaser trailer should arrive. While we don’t know what it will focus on, it could tie into the show’s 20th anniversary this October. If Paramount actually follows a similar pattern to Season 1, a teaser release in June makes a lot of sense.

Filming for Season 2 began on April 13, so a June teaser would come roughly two months into production. Then, by late July, there would be enough footage ready for a full official trailer, making Comic-Con the ideal moment to drop it.

To sum everything up, the wait for both the teaser trailer and the official trailer for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 could be shorter than it was last year. June looks like the most likely window for the teaser, with the official trailer expected in late July at San Diego Comic-Con.

Of course, plans can always change, and Paramount could take a different approach. But based on past patterns and the current timeline, and of course the (nearly) identical way they are choosing to announce the new cast compared to last year, June and late July actually are the windows we should keep an eye on for the first official look at Season 2.
