Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Drops a Major Twist in Harrison’s Love Life — and Fans Are Getting Deja Vu

A newly released character description for a cast addition has unexpectedly revealed an important detail about Harrison in Season 2.

One of the most talked-about characters in the latest chapters of the Dexter franchise has undoubtedly been Harrison, portrayed by Jack Alcott. First introduced in Dexter: New Blood as a troubled 16-year-old, Harrison actually became the most controversial figure in that miniseries. Many fans struggled to connect with him, but that perception changed in a significant way, with Dexter: Resurrection.

After the reversal of Dexter’s fate at the hands of his own son, the father-son dynamic was restored nearly midway through Season 1 of Dexter: Resurrection. From that point on, things seemed unusually stable for both characters.

As part of that new series, the writers introduced a softer side to Harrison’s life, including a romantic relationship with Gigi, a college student he meets. Their chemistry actually seemed natural, even though their personalities didn’t align that much, and by the end of the season, they appeared genuinely happy together, and she was even featured in Dexter’s monologue montage that concluded Season 1.

And that’s what makes the latest development so surprising. In Season 2, Gigi, played by Emily Kimball, is no longer part of Harrison’s story. The change is very likely to happen off-screen, a narrative choice that many of you will remember, since a similar thing happened between Seasons 3 and 4 of the OG Dexter, when Angel Batista’s relationship with Barbara Gianna quietly ended without much explanation.

The news came unexpectedly through an official character description introducing new actors to the cast. Harrison’s new love interest is named Fiona Mixon, a homicide training officer portrayed by Nona Parker Johnson. This is not only a simple replacement, though. Fiona is connected to a significant character we haven’t met yet, as she is the daughter of a high-ranking NYPD captain, played by Bokeem Woodbine.

That detail suggests a big shift in direction. We don’t know what the original plans were for Gigi and Harrison, but Fiona seems to add  tension and higher stakes. She is potentially connected to the same precinct as detectives Claudette Wallace and Melvin Oliva, which puts Harrison dangerously close to law enforcement.

This whole situation here definitely feels like déjà vu. The “daughter of a powerful police figure” dynamic actually brings memories of Harrison’s relationship with Audrey in Dexter: New Blood, who was the daughter of Iron Lake Police Chief Angela Bishop. However, this new scenario appears to be even more intense.

The biggest difference though is that unlike before, Harrison is now carrying the weight of his own actions, having killed Bryan Foster in the Season 1 premiere and, for now, escaped consequences, since Mia Lapierre was framed for that kill.

It is worth mentioning that Fiona’s father is described as a “bulldog of a homicide captain,” something that gives the impression of a man who is relentless, and very committed to his job. And that characterization alone makes things even more serious.

Although it is way too early for predictions, it looks like Harrison isn’t only dealing with a relationship anymore, but he is getting into the orbit of someone who could definitely become a serious threat. And hanging over everything is his father, Dexter, the real Bay Harbor Butcher.

While the setup may feel reminiscent of the Angela Bishop story in New Blood, this is much more intense, and might have actual concequences for the Morgan family.
