via New York Daily News: Many women say they would kill to be in a perfect relationship. Yvonne Strahovski’s character on “Dexter” has taken that notion literally.
The 31-year-old Australian actress — returning as Hannah McKay, Dexter Morgan’s biggest passion besides, um, killing — has both the body and body of work to make her America’s sociopathic sweetheart.
“I call her a ‘sensitive’ sociopath,” Strahovski says of her character. “I don’t think she walks away from wrecking people’s lives without real emotional scars. So let’s give her credit for that.”
In the interests of not getting on her bad side, we’ll go with that. McKay arrived on the crime scene last season as a “maybe or not” accomplice in a killing spree who instantly got Dexter’s blood flowing. And though he tried to take her out on a date by booking her a reservation on his special table, the pair wound up having killer sex instead. “Being bound and gagged is not my idea of foreplay, but the scene certainly was intense and seemed to register well,” Strahovski says. In fact, the actress has been amazed by the reaction from the show’s fans to her return for the eighth and final season. “The reception I’ve received has been amazing,” she says. “I didn’t realize how many people watch the show, so the number of people who approach me with kind encouragement has been incredible.”
Her rise on America’s most- wanted list of actresses began the day after she sent out her audition reel in 2007 and was contacted by the producers of NBC’s “Chuck,” who almost instantly cast her as their female lead. “It was overnight success, after four years of struggle in Australia,” she says.
Her next credential comes in January, when she stars with Aaron Eckhart in the theatrical movie 'I, Frankenstein'.“My character is a skeptic who gets a rude awakening when she meets the monster in a modern world infested by gargoyles and demons,” she says.
