Yvonne Strahovski Joins Dexter - Press Release

Via press release: Actress Yvonne Strahovski has joined the cast of the Emmy®-nominated SHOWTIME® drama series DEXTER. Strahovski, who will appear in a multi-episode story arc in the upcoming seventh season, will play the role of Hannah McKay, a strong, independent woman with a past that she's struggled to put behind her. As a turn of events leads Miami Metro Homicide to ask for her help in solving some old cases, Dexter works with her and begins to wonder if there's more to this woman than she's professed. Production on season seven began last week and will premiere on SHOWTIME on Sunday, September 30th at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Yvonne Strahovski is best-known for playing CIA operative "Sarah Walker" on NBC’s long-running action-comedy Chuck, from executive producers Josh Schwartz and McG. Up next, she co-stars in two films: Guilt Trip opposite Barbara Streisand and Seth Rogen; and as the female lead in I, Frankenstein with Aaron Eckhart. She also starred in the Toronto Film Festival darling Killer Elite.

One of the most acclaimed series on television, DEXTER stars Golden Globe® and SAG Award winner Michael C. Hall as a complicated and conflicted blood-spatter expert for the Miami police department who moonlights as a serial killer. The show has received both multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for best television drama series, as well as a prestigious Peabody Award in 2008, and was twice named one of AFI’s top ten television series. The show also stars Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Lauren Vélez, David Zayas, and James Remar.

  1. So Hannah is supposed to look like a mix between Rita and Lumen AND be a killer interested in Dexter? This looks like trouble looking for a place to happen :( Oh God, don't let her be Dexter's new partner, please...

    1. That sounds so damn good! She will be Dexter's girlfriend maybe until Season 8 and when he finds out that she's a killer, he will not know what to do because he will be in love with her!

    2. "multi-episode story arc"
She won't be there for the entire season.

    3. Yea, she's an in demand actress, probably too expensive for an entire season - would have to whack two regulars to keep her, but then again, Quinn and LaGuerta are a little stale!

  2. Maybe supposed to be a foil to Deb?

  3. Let's hope she's not as much of a bitch as she was in Mass Effect... :P

  6. A combination of my favorite TV Show and (one of) my favorite Video Games? Oh God, f**k me, that's a dream, isn't it. Boah. There are no words to say. I would, metaphorically spoken, sell my first-born to see season 7 right now. Hell, i would sell his metaphorical mother, too.

  7. I can't wait for Masuka to call her "Blondie" just like his Chuck character did! (C.S. Lee was a major character in Chuck Season 1)

  8. When Jennifer Carpenter and Yvonne Strahovski step on camera together, the entire world might catch on fire, or the universe might implode, or... who knows. I can't even believe this.

    Am I dreaming? *blink* *blink*

  9. Never heard of her but then that is no surprise as I do not watch much tv (only Dexter) granted I am a gamer but I have not played any of the Mass Effect Series (more of a RPGer and not really into FPS types of RPG) about the only thing I know of her is the bio posted on this website and that she was trending on Twitter that's it. I am sure she will make a fine addition to the show given the response that she just joined as this recurring character.

Also if I were to take a stab at guessing how she comes into the show my guess will be that the "old case" they would visit or reopen would be the Ice Truck Killer Case. The reason why I picked this is because you never seen the Bay Harbor Butcher's kill scene, the closest it would get would be Miami Metro discovering a chopped corpse in a bag in an old storage box. Being that Deb is involved in the Ice Truck Killer case and was actually found on the table she will not be allowed to work on the case as that will make her a conflict of interest to the case so Laguerta hires Hannah to investigate. This of course is merely speculation and I could be way off on my guess.

    1. Ahhhh, Angelic, you are forgetting one VERY important name.

      "Valerie Castillo"

    2. Ah yes I forgot about her. Another good possibility is they revisit that case and follow up with Masuka's investigation of the M99 tranquilizer. We never did see the results of that finish so that could probably make a comeback to haunt Dexter as well since as far as we know as a viewer's standpoint that case was never solved, in fact I do not think that was even closed to begin with. All we saw was Dexter deleting his alias name from Masuka's email but that does not mean Deleting the name will make his problems go away just like that. Dexter is screwed if Hannah decides to get official records via paper and not by email lol. You could be onto something there Z :)

    3. Doubt it. More likely that she's going to help with some cold cases that don't link up to ITK or the BHB, otherwise Dexter would be far more paranoid and would be thinking about protecting himself over whether or not this woman truly has the past she claims

  10. if i'm correct they said this character was suppose to be a new love interest for Dexter and will "be around for awhile." in that case i wouldn't be surprised if she was in season 8. a multi-episode arc could be anywhere from 3 episodes to like 6 or 7. i think we'll see her later in season 7 and into season 8.

as far as the cold cases go, i think they'll deal with the Russian Mobster story arc. and about her "past" i think it would be sweet if it was revealed she may have helped the FBI with BHB and the Trinity Kiler or was somehow related to or worked with Lundy. That would explain why Miami Metro might need her help. Either way i think somehow they have to tie her past together with Dexter's, whatever that connection may be.

  11. Lundy's daughter! That would be funny.

Anyway, I would not put too much stock into the whole "love interest" bit. Last year everyone jumped to the conclusion that officer Mike was going to be the new Doakes - just because he was a black male cop. =P

  12. Two of my favorite television worlds just collided: Chuck and Dexter. It must be Christmas... Or my birthday? Or some type of heaven? I thought I'd have to watch a new show to follow Yvonne. This is a dream come true. Now they're just missing Zachary Levi.

Oh this is too good. Dexter S7 HypeLevel +500.

    Yvonne too good.
