Julia Stiles wants to set the record straight: She had nothing to do with Dexter co-stars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter getting divorced.
"I have absolutely nothing to do with the split between Michael and Jennifer," Stiles said in a statement obtained by E! Online. "We are good friends and enjoyed working together."
Dexter's Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter getting a divorce
On Monday, Hall and Carpenter announced they were getting a divorce after two years of marriage.
Reports, particularly on Hollyscoop.com, surfaced that Hall and Stiles were involved. Stiles, who along with Hall received a Golden Globe nomination this week, played Hall's love interest during Season 5.
"This is a personal matter between them, and we should respect their privacy," the 29-year-old Stiles said. "Although I, too, prefer to keep my private life, private — I felt compelled to dispel the rumors I was somehow the cause for this matter."
On Thursday, the same day Hall — winner of a Screen Actors Guild award for his performance on the show — got another SAG nod for his role on the Showtime series, Carpenter filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking spousal support from Hall, according to The Associated Press.
Hall, 39, and Carpenter, 31, met on the set of Dexter, where they play foster siblings. The pair married on Dec. 31, 2008.

A better question and to the heart of the issue would be: Did you at any time touch Hall's genitalia and/or did he ever touch yours?
ReplyDeleteYes I did and yes he did. Oh wait you werent talking to me...
ReplyDeleteI hope this does not affect the show. These people are professionals some how they just can't separate their feelings on set to off set. It is a private matter for them, it is diappointing to the fans. I wish them the best.
ReplyDeleteA fan from Brantford, Ontario, Canada
I thought it was weird they were married and met playing siblings but so be it. Hall is a god.
ReplyDeleteI DONT KNOW WHY PEOPLE DO THIS THINGS, LEAVE THIS GUYS ALONE WITH THEIR PRIVATE LIVES, I BET THEY ARE ALREADY HURTING AND WE MAKE IT WORSE, THEY ARE PROFESSIONALS AND THEY BRING THE BEST OF THEM TO THE SCREEN WE SHOULD ENDURE IT AND RESPECT IT
ReplyDeleteWow! I thought they were just dating. I had no idea they were married. I can't believe Jennifer is seeking alimony. Two years? Come on. I hope this doesn't effect the show.
ReplyDeleteI must agree I like her as an acteress but two years come on? She can do well enough on her own. I love the show. He's the one wining the awards I think enough said. I hope this doesn't effecct the show
ReplyDeleteDid they ask Desmond Harrington if he was the cause of their divorce?
ReplyDeleteI did not know these two where married till this summer as I am just a new fan to the show. They seem good together but the way they rushed into marriage on News Years Eve in 2008 its no surprise.
ReplyDeleteBut seeking spousal support from Hall is weird, no kids involved so why the seeking of money when it has been barely two years. Did she married him for his money ( and more fame) as she is not much involved in any other projects (as far as I know) .
I do not like her much as an actress AND the last two seasons I have begun to hate her character more and more .... she seems to be caring more about her appearance when in earlier shows she seemed more natural in her skin!
Maybe, she's worried that work will be scarce for her after the divorce? Look at what happened with his first wife. Maybe, she had been offered other opportunities but turned it down because of his pleadings? There are many reasons why a party should pay spousal support and I am sure there is a reason for her request. He's got money. Cough it up!
