As Paramount+ welcomes Quinn "home," Scott Reynolds has teased the character's return as a series regular in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2.
Looking back at the original series, there are many characters that fans continue to love and connect with. However, there is one character whose popularity has grown significantly in recent years, despite the fact that the show had already been off the air for years. And that is Joey Quinn.
Played by Desmond Harrington, Quinn made his first appearance in the Dexter franchise in 12 years during the first season of Dexter: Resurrection. Now, after returning in Season 1, the character has officially been promoted to series regular, meaning fans will get to see much more of him compared to his limited role in the first season.
And after getting our first official glimpse of Quinn in Season 2 through a newly released episode still, fans received another exciting tease earlier this week from executive producer and writer Scott Reynolds.
On August 4, the official Dexter account on Paramount+ welcomed Joey Quinn back for the second season by sharing the same Season 2 image of him smiling at a bar. The post was captioned, "Welcome home, Quinn," alongside a Statue of Liberty emoji.
The reference was a nod to Quinn's origins, as the OG series suggested that he was from New York City before moving to Florida and joining Miami Metro Police Department in 2008.
Reynolds later reposted the image on his X account, adding a short but very promising message for fans:
"You're gonna love Quinn in this season of Dexter: Resurrection."
Fans Are Excited... But Some Are Also Worried About Quinn's Fate
This is not the first time Reynolds has teased what is coming in Season 2, but his latest comment immediately caught the attention of his followers.
While many viewers were excited by his promise, others couldn't help but worry about what it could actually mean. Dozens of fans responded to Reynolds' post, expressing concerns that Quinn's storyline could end up following a similar path to Angel Batista's return in Season 1.
Of course, that fear does not come out of nowhere.
If Dexter: Resurrection was willing to kill off Batista, a character who had one of the strongest and most consistent relationships with Dexter Morgan throughout the original series, it is natural for fans wonder what could happen to Quinn.
After all, Quinn's relationship with Dexter was never simple. Since his introduction in Season 3 of Dexter, he was often suspicious of Dex's behavior, and while the two eventually developed some sort of a mutual understanding, their connection was always complicated.
What Could Scott Reynolds' Tease Mean for Quinn's Future?
Trying to decode exactly what Scott Reynolds meant by "you're gonna love Quinn" is a hard thing to do at this point. The word "love" can mean many different things depending on how Quinn's story unfolds.
It could simply mean that the writers have created a strong and emotional storyline for Quinn, which will remind audiences why the character became such a popular part of the OG series.
But... there is also another possibility: perhaps Dexter: Resurrection will surprise viewers by changing Quinn's role completely and turning him into a true ally for Dexter.
At this point, everything remains speculation. However, Quinn has always been one of the franchise's more complicated characters. In Season 5 of the original series, he actually went from being deeply suspicious of Dexter to eventually choosing to look the other way despite knowing that something about him was not right.
With that kind of history, and with Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 bringing him back as a series regular, Quinn's story could definitely go in almost any direction.
