After a long wait, Dexter fans finally got exactly what they had been waiting for: the full official trailer for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2. The two-minute video gives us the best look yet at the highly anticipated new season and does more than enough to keep the hype going until the premiere on October 30.
The trailer actually comes as something of a gift from Paramount+ to fans, as it was released on the exact same day the Dexter franchise officially celebrates its 20th anniversary. And judging by the footage we got, this new season could end up being even stronger than the already-goated Season 1.
But, as always with a trailer packed with fast-moving footage, there are lots of details that can easily go unnoticed on the first or even second watch. That is why we went through the trailer carefully and gathered 10 easter eggs, hidden details, and interesting moments you might have missed.
1. The Song Choice Teases Dexter Getting Older
The song playing throughout the trailer is actually a... haunting remix of the classic Frank Sinatra song “Young at Heart,” performed as a duet with Charles Aznavour.
The title alone makes it pretty obvious that this was not chosen simply because it sounds good. It appears to be a direct nod to one of the main storylines of Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, where Dexter will face something very different from what we have seen before, a midlife crisis.
As Dexter gets older, he will find himself falling behind physically compared to his younger years, while also facing new and dangerous adversaries who could potentially push him to his limits.
2. The Elevator Scene Is an Easter Egg to Season 1
The trailer also gives us another look at Uma Thurman's return as Charley, who is back with unfinished business involving Dexter. One particular shot stands out because it appears to be a deliberate callback to Dexter: Resurrection Season 1.
The scene takes place inside an elevator with wooden walls, and it is definitely reminiscent of the elevator scene between Dexter and Charley in Season 1, Episode 4, moments before Dexter was introduced as Ronald Schmidt to Leon Prater.
3. Shavo Odadjian’s Serial Killer Character Is a Satanist
One detail many fans might have actually missed is related to R.H. Martin, played by System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian. Although the identity and actions of this mysterious serial killer are still largely unknown, the trailer gives us a potentially major clue. He has a big pentagram tattoo on his chest, suggesting that the character is a satanist.
And interestingly enough, the trailer does not appear to hold anything back when it comes to showing that Dexter eventually kills Odadjian’s character!
4. The Five Borough Killer Has a Camera on His Glasses
Another fascinating detail is hidden in one of the darker scenes involving Dan Stevens’ character, Lucas Stark, also known as the Five Borough Killer.
Stark appears to be wearing a very modern gadget, and that is smart glasses with a tiny camera attached to them.
That detail actually becomes even more interesting when you notice a brief piece of vertical-camera footage in the trailer. It could suggest that Stark records his kills, which may explain why he was wearing those glasses in the first place.
5. We See Young New York Ripper in Action
The trailer introduces us to Don Framt, aka the New York Ripper, played by Brian Cox, and it is already clear that this man is completely deranged.
While we get several glimpses of Framt in the present day, the trailer also includes a very brief flashback showing a younger version of him invading an apartment and killing a young woman with the same murder weapon that was teased in Season 1.
Another disturbing detail is that the Ripper appears to wear an oxygen mask while carrying out his horrific acts, allowing him to conceal his face.
6. Chris Jericho’s Character Ends Up on Dexter’s Table
A brief shot in the trailer appears to reveal another victim on Dexter’s table, and this time it looks like it’s Chris Jericho. The AEW star’s role in the new season has not been officially revealed, although we got our first glimpses of him through set photos earlier this spring.
Now, this trailer seems to give us our biggest clue yet about the fate of his mysterious character.
7. The Five Borough Killer Will Target Dexter
Another detail that is both fascinating and surprising is the reveal that Lucas Stark will eventually track Dexter down. At one point in the trailer, Stark is seen looking at a black and white printed photograph of Dex that has been pinned to a wall.
“Who are you?” he whispers, as he appears to realize that Dexter Morgan might be more than just another... average New Yorker.
It is a pretty major reveal for a trailer, especially considering how important their eventual confrontation could become.
8. Dexter Is Getting Way Too Comfortable at the NYPD
Toward the end of the trailer, we see Dexter wearing a visitor card, carrying a bag, and dressed in a blue shirt that instantly brings back memories of his Miami days. While it already looks like Dexter could eventually end up working with the NYPD, as some recent set photos have suggested, there is another detail that actually stands out even more.
Dexter looks incredibly comfortable inside the department, despite being surrounded by people who could potentially expose him or take him down.
The best example comes when he is inside the lab, casually throwing a skull into the air like it is a baseball. Honestly, that is peak Dexter!
9. Dexter Is Still Using the Incinerator
Even though Season 2 takes place three to four years after the events of Season 1, it looks like Dexter still has not found a better way to dispose of his victims’ bodies. One brief shot shows him getting rid of a body at the incinerator, which has already proven to be a pretty convenient solution for him.
It also appears to be a much safer alternative than the dangerous sea-dumping method he relied on so often during his Miami days.
10. Is This Our First Glimpse at the New Title Sequence?
One of the final shots in the trailer immediately caught our attention. The unusual angle and slower pace of the shot make it look like it could be part of the new Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 title sequence.

We already knew that the new season would feature a brand-new opening sequence inspired by the iconic OG, and this particular shot certainly seems like a recreation of one of the most recognizable moments from Dexter’s classic intro.
More specifically, it actually resembles the moment when Dexter leaves his Miami apartment and heads toward the exit of his balcony. And honestly, there is something about that shot that makes us even more curious to see the full new title sequence.
So, there we go. Those are 10 hidden details, easter eggs, and interesting moments you might have missed in the brand-new official trailer for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2. Which of these details caught your attention the most?
