Even though filming for the upcoming season of Dexter: Resurrection wrapped weeks ago, it looks like there are still a few familiar names from film and television that have yet to be officially announced as part of the cast. And that appears to be the case here, with a Gen Z actor known for starring in It, It Chapter Two, Shazam!, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods quietly joining the cast.

What makes this casting even more interesting is that all signs point to this being a fairly significant role. More specifically, it could actually be one of the show's weekly villains, similar to the many memorable killers Dexter faced throughout the OG series. But who is this young star?

We're talking about Jack Dylan Grazer, who, all signs point to, has quietly landed a role in the sophomore season of Dexter: Resurrection. While the 23-year-old actor may not be as familiar to older generations, he is a well-known name among younger audiences, particularly Gen Z, which has become an important part of the Dexter fanbase. Grazer has more than 3.5 million followers on Instagram alone.

How Do We Know About This Latest Casting?

The first major clue about Grazer's involvement came through Paramount+'s press release following the release of the full Season 2 trailer. The announcement also included news about the return of the Dexter: Final Cut aftershow for a third season.

Among the guests listed for the companion series was Grazer's name. At first, this made us wonder why he was included alongside people who were already known to be involved with Dexter. But then, we started connecting the pieces of the puzzle. (Spoiler alert!)

Teaser Footage: We were able to identify Grazer in the first teaser released in early September, lying on Dexter's table wrapped in plastic.

Voice Match: The newest trailer begins with the very same scene, and provides another big clue through his voice. We see a character lying on Dexter's table, seemingly ready to meet his maker, and when he responds to Dexter by yelling "Who!?", the voice actually sounds identical to Grazer's.

Other Clues: In this very scene, more than three images of men can actually be seen hanging above his head, strongly hinting at the kind of character Dexter may be dealing with.

What Grazer’s Arrival Means for Season 2

Specific details about the character, including his name, remain unknown for now. We also don't know exactly which episode or episodes he will appear in. However, based on the footage released in the recent trailers, everything seems to point toward Grazer playing a serial killer.

We can easily say that Grazer’s addition will be some fresh energy from a star who built his career on successful horror films like 'It' and DC superhero films like 'Shazam!'. For a show like Dexter: Resurrection, leaning into young actors with a huge digital following is definitely a smart move especially considering that it is a 20-year-old franchise with the new wave of viewers.

It will definitely be interesting to see how Grazer's role unfolds in the show and most importantly, what his character's motives are and what led him to become the kind of person who ends up on Dexter Morgan's table.
