Some Dexter fans have become suspicious of a specific scene filmed recently, thanks to some intriguing set images.

Even though the second season of Dexter: Resurrection is in its final week of production, it looks like we might have already seen a sneak peek at the last scene of the upcoming season weeks ago, through a series of set images and videos captured in the heart of New York City during back-to-back filming on September 1 and 2.
At least, that is what many fans have been claiming ever since dozens of set images featuring Michael C. Hall surfaced through paparazzi photos, as well as pictures shared by fans who happened to be around the set during those two days. And honestly, the evidence behind this theory is quite interesting and probably can't be ignored.
More specifically, the images, which we first posted earlier this month here on Dexter Daily, show Hall filming a scene that featured large crowds applauding and cheering for him with excitement and admiration as he walked through them.
Another interesting detail is that confetti was falling from the sky, which of course immediately made it obvious that the scene could actually be taking place inside Dexter Morgan's imagination.
The scene also featured a very familiar face who is no longer alive, interacting with Dexter among the crowds. That detail alone makes it even harder to believe that this sequence is simply part of the show's reality.
But the mystery doesn't end there.
A day before that scene, on September 1, Michael C. Hall was seen wearing the exact same outfit in the exact same location. This time, he was filming a scene with Uma Thurman, which had fans talking about the nature of Dexter and Charley's relationship at this point in the story.
And this is where the speculation really began.
Could This Be the Final Scene of Season 2?
Many fans now believe that the two sequences filmed on those back-to-back days are actually from Episode 10 of Season 2. Not only that, but some believe they could be part of the very last scene of the entire season.
The reason for that theory has a lot to do with the confetti scene, which appears to be a direct nod to the original series, and more specifically, the Season 1 finale from way back in 2006. In that episode, Dex was dealing with the guilt of killing his own brother and ended up imagining an alternate reality where the public accepted him for what he really was: a serial killer who kills other killers.
Now, with the Dexter franchise celebrating its 20th anniversary later this year, some fans believe it is very possible that Resurrection will use a similar idea for its own Season 2 finale.
If that turns out to be true, then the final scene of Season 2 may have been hidden in plain sight all along.
Why Was the Scene Filmed So Early?
A lot of you might be wondering how this scene could possibly be the last one of the season when there was still more than two weeks of production left at the time. The answer is that filming was taking place on location, and more specifically in one of New York City's busiest areas, Times Square.

Because of the location and the need to work around crowds permits, and other production requirements, the shooting schedule would actually have had to be adjusted. That means the final scene of the season could have been filmed much earlier and completely out of order.
So, even though the sequence may have been the very last moment of the story, there would have been nothing unusual about seeing it filmed weeks before production officially wrapped.
It Still Remains... a Theory!
Despite all of this, the idea remains nothing more than speculation for now.
Some fans cannot imagine the Times Square "fantasy" sequence being placed in the middle of an episode, while others believe it would make much more sense as the ending of the season. And considering that Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 is expected to include dozens of nods to the OG series as part of the franchise's 20-year milestone, it would certainly make sense for the show to mirror the original Season 1 finale in some way.
Whether that is actually what the writers have planned remains to be seen.
