After 20 years of bringing father and son to life, the actors shared a special message for Dexter fans everywhere.
April 22 turned out to be a packed day for updates on Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, and it all kicked off with a special message from Michael C. Hall alongside James Remar. The video, filmed straight from the set during an interior scene, generated excitement across the fanbase in no time.
In the clip, Hall confirms that filming for Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection is officially underway, noting it was actually captured during the first week of production, even though, by the time it was shared, the team had already moved into week two. Interestingly, the exact same thing happened with a very similar behind-the-scenes message last year, which was also filmed during week one but released later.
Hall’s message actually did exactly what it was meant to do: build hype. Within hours, the video spread across various platforms, receiving millions of views and thousands of reactions from the fans. In his own words:
“Hey, it’s Michael C. Hall on set during the first week of production for season two of Dexter: Resurrection, just to prove it. See, there’s James Remar. It’s happening. We have exciting returning and new guest stars and another thrill ride planned. We are excited about making it and look forward to sharing it with you. Stay tuned.”
There are definitely some key things from this. First, Hall’s tease of “another thrill ride” actually hints at a strong and high-risk storyline for Season 2. And then there’s the mention of “exciting returning” characters, which of course, didn’t take that long to materialize. Just minutes after the video dropped, it was confirmed that Desmond Harrington will return, this time with a significantly larger role compared to Season 1.
Based on Hall’s wording Joey Quinn won’t be the only familiar face from the original Dexter series or even New Blood to make a comeback, as we should probably expect more returns as the new season unfolds.
The announcement was quickly followed by a Paramount press release, which finally offered an early look at the first Season 2 synopsis, giving us just an idea of where this next chapter is headed.
One subtle but interesting detail from the video also reveals something about Dexter Morgan’s situation in the upcoming season. He appears to still be living in the same basement apartment provided by Blessing Kamara. Some of you actually caught this right away, and it suggests that despite the upcoming time jump, Dexter hasn’t moved on physically. This means that he’s grown comfortable where he is, even if it’s not an upgrade.
