Before stepping back into the role of Dexter Morgan again, Michael C. Hall is taking on a new film project.
It looks like 2026 is shaping up to be a big year for Michael C. Hall. Alongside the much-anticipated second season of Dexter: Resurrection, which is currently in the writing phase, the actor has just signed on for his first film in four years.
Hall is set to star in the upcoming spy action thriller Stratagem, joining actors Noomi Rapace and Teo Yoo. The film unfolds at a high-stakes cybersecurity summit in the Swiss Alps, where CIA agent Stella Turner (played by Rapace) goes undercover to recruit Daniel Sim (played by Yoo), a brilliant but elusive expert who may be the only one capable of preventing a massive U.S. defense leak. As the mission escalates, Stella begins to realize that Daniel is maniuplating her for his own secret agenda.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, production on Stratagem is expected to begin in early 2026. While details about Michael C. Hall’s character are still under wraps, his addition to the cast already raises excitement among us fans who wanted to see him back on the big screen.
The timing of Stratagem also sparks curiosity about how it might align with Hall’s schedule for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2. The new season is slated to start filming later than the first, around spring, with production once again taking place in New York City. Depending on the size of his role in Stratagem, there’s a chance the two projects could overlap..
After Dexter: New Blood, Hall shifted his creative energy toward his band, Princess Goes, spending the past few years writing music and touring across the U.S. and Europe. His last film appearance was in the 2021 psychological thriller John and the Hole.
