The writing duo behind the Season 2 premiere of Dexter: Resurrection has been already revealed.
The first season of Dexter: Resurrection wrapped its ten-episode run on September 5th, and while the finale is still fresh in everyone’s mind, early news about what comes next is already starting to surface. The next chapter is expected to arrive potentially in Fall 2026, and even at this early stage, there are a few intriguing details that offer a sense of where the story might be heading.
At the moment, the only confirmed returning cast members are Michael C. Hall, James Remar and Jack Alcott, and the creative team is focusing on shaping the new season. The writers room is nearly two months deep into Season 2, and have already begun work on the second episode, with the full writing process scheduled to continue through early Spring 2026.
The natural question is who is handling the Season 2 premiere, and although it feels early to peek behind the curtain, there is already a clear answer.
In a recent appearance on The Dark Passengers: A Dexter Podcast, hosted by Jack and Diana Pesin, showrunner Clyde Phillips revealed that the team has just completed the first outline for the new season. He mentioned that he is co-writing the Season 2 premiere with longtime collaborator Scott Reynolds, adding that work on the second episode is underway as well.
That pairing should sound familiar to the majority of viewers, since Phillips and Reynolds also wrote the series premiere, “A Beating Heart…,” which debuted on July 11. Their track record together actually speaks for itself, and it is hard not to feel confident that the Season 2 opener that will set a tone for what follows, is penned by two Dexter veterans.
It is not so usual to learn about the writing progress this early, but it does actually suggest that the Dexter: Resurrection team already has a firm grasp on the direction of the entire season. What remains unconfirmed, is which directors will return, and whether Marcos Siega, whose connection to the franchise runs deep, will once again take the helm.
For now, the next major milestone is production, which is expected to begin in the heart of spring.
