The actor who appeared in multiple Original Sin episodes is also returning for Resurrection.
The countdown is officially on—Dexter: Resurrection premieres in just seven days with a thrilling two-episode debut. Episode 1, titled "A Beating Heart," will feature the return of the very first confirmed character from the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin, which aired its 10-episode first season last winter.
The returning actor is none other than 7-year-old Eli Sherman, who portrayed a three-year-old Dexter Morgan Original Sin’s haunting flashbacks set in the early 1970s. These scenes explored the tragic past of Dexter’s biological mother, Laura Moser, and her relationship with Harry Morgan, just before the fateful event that changed Dexter’s life forever.
According to official teasers and trailer footage, Sherman will reprise his role in a hallucination sequence that takes place while Dexter is either still in a coma or just emerging from it. The specific moment he appears in? The harrowing shipping container scene, where a young Dexter and his brother Brian witness the brutal murder of their mother and two other victims at the hands of Hector Estrada.
Sherman is currently the only actor from the prequel confirmed to return, but given the nature of the flashback, it's highly likely that Xander Matteo—who played young Brian Moser in Original Sin—will appear as well.
In recently released teaser footage, we see Michael C. Hall (Dexter) interacting with his father figure, Harry, while standing in front of his traumatized younger self inside the blood-soaked shipping container—a chilling visual that blends past trauma with present-day psychological torment.
Adding to the excitement, Eli Sherman’s father recently shared a behind-the-scenes photo featuring Eli in the makeup chair alongside Michael C. Hall on the set of Dexter: Resurrection in New York City. In the photo, Hall is seen wearing a classic Miami-style shirt—reminiscent of Dexter’s earlier days—posing warmly with his young co-star.
Special thanks to Eli’s parent for generously providing us with high-resolution images from this touching and nostalgic moment on set.
