Jack Alcott Says Harrison’s Biggest Fear Is ‘Being Like His Father’ in Dexter: Resurrection

The actor gave a brief but informative interview on KCAL News.

One of the biggest questions buzzing among Dexter fans lately is: What’s going on with Harrison Morgan in Dexter: Resurrection? As teasers and trailers for the highly anticipated sequel series continue to drop, speculation is mounting about where Dexter's troubled son is headed next.

Harrison has been a complicated character since the moment Dexter left him behind in the original series finale, faking his death and vanishing from his son’s life. After being taken to Argentina by Hannah McKay, Harrison lived in hiding until 2018, when Hannah tragically passed away. Having been estranged from his father for nearly a decade, Harrison finally reconnected with Dexter in Dexter: New Blood. Now portrayed by Jack Alcott, the teenage Harrison sparked controversy among fans for his complex personality and moral ambiguity.

But in Dexter: Resurrection, Harrison is back—and he’s more haunted than ever. Still believing he killed his father, Harrison is trying to rebuild his life, but everything is not what it seems.

In a brand-new interview with KCAL News, Jack Alcott opened up about returning to the role, what’s changed in Harrison, and why this new chapter might surprise everyone.

On Discovering Dexter: Resurrection Was Happening

"I mean, just elation, excitement. I thought I was done initially. The ending to New Blood felt so definitive. I thought my journey with Harrison was over, and it was the most fun, gratifying experience I’ve had as an actor.

So when I got the call—‘Hey man, let’s do it again’—I freaked out."

Can You Watch Dexter: Resurrection Without Seeing the Original Series?

"I think so. It does a great job of letting you know where you're at.

If you haven’t watched the original, you'll still understand that there's a deep history. But you don’t need to see all of it to enjoy this. That said, it will make you want to go back and binge the whole franchise—which is a win for everybody. Dexter really is a dynasty of a show."

What Is Harrison Like Now?

"Harrison can’t catch a break. He’s had a rough upbringing. He’s lost virtually everyone who’s ever been close to him—not too different from Dexter himself.

In New Blood, we saw father and son slowly inch toward each other, only to be torn apart in the end. Harrison carries all of that with him. Now, he’s trying to get his life together, starting fresh in New York—but he’s still a deeply haunted kid."

How Much of Dexter Is in Harrison?

"Harrison would do anything to separate himself from the idea that he could be like his father. It terrifies him.

The thought that he might be capable of what Dexter was capable of—that’s what makes him such an interesting character to play. There’s so much potential darkness there, but he’s also desperately trying to resist it. He’s not afraid of much, which makes him both fascinating and dangerous."

Fan Reactions and What to Expect

"Reactions have been broad, but I think people are going to love it. It’s a really satisfying return to form.

Even if you’ve never seen Dexter before, Resurrection is razor-sharp, full of twists and turns, and the cast is just insane—like, wildly talented. It still blows my mind.

Whether you're a longtime fan or completely new, there's something here for everyone."
