Jack Alcott is the focus of the latest behind-the-scenes featurette for Dexter: Resurrection.
Just two weeks remain until the highly anticipated premiere of Dexter: Resurrection, with Episodes 1 and 2 debuting on Paramount+ and Showtime. As the excitement builds, the networks continue to stoke fan anticipation with exclusive behind-the-scenes featurettes—and the latest one is a must-watch for fans of Dexter: New Blood.
This new sneak peek features none other than Jack Alcott, who portrayed one of the most talked-about characters from the 2021 mini-series: Dexter Morgan’s son, Harrison. Introduced in the very first episode of New Blood, Harrison quickly became a complex and divisive figure in the Dexter universe.
Jack Alcott on Harrison: “He’s in Way Over His Head”
In the newest featurette, Alcott reflects on Harrison's emotional and psychological arc, admitting that the character is still struggling to find his place in the world.
“Harrison is Dexter’s son, and he’s grown from an adorable toddler to a pretty understandably angry young man from being abandoned by his father,” Alcott explains.
This introductory line sets the tone for what appears to be a deeper dive into Harrison’s psyche—a young man grappling with abandonment, trauma, and the legacy of a father who lived a double life.
Harrison’s Dark Passenger—and That Letter
One of the most chilling moments in New Blood was the infamous letter Dexter left behind, warning about potential “dark tendencies” in his son. According to Alcott, that letter had a profound impact on Harrison.
“Harrison is like, what’s wrong with me?” Alcott says. “The letter that he receives—there’s that line about if Harrison shows any dark tendencies. That resonates with Harrison and really, really scares him.”
It’s a powerful insight into how that one moment planted seeds of doubt and fear in a young man already wrestling with identity and morality.
A Reminder: Where We Last Saw Harrison
Alcott also revisits the pivotal ending of Dexter: New Blood, reminding fans of the emotional climax between father and son.
“Dexter goes to leave and Harrison pulls a rifle on him. Harrison shoots and believes he killed his father,” he recounts. “The very last moment we see is Harrison driving off—torn, but having left behind a lot of what he was carrying before.”
That unforgettable finale set the stage for what’s to come in Dexter: Resurrection—and fans have been speculating ever since.
What’s Next for Harrison in Dexter: Resurrection?
Despite only a short time jump of around 8 to 10 weeks, Alcott says we’ll see a new version of Harrison emerge in the upcoming series.
“Harrison feels older in this season,” he reveals. “He’s got a job. He’s got some friends. When he interacts… he has a way about him that’s not so angsty.”
Stepping Back into the Role of Harrison
Alcott also opened up about what it was like returning to such a psychologically demanding role:
“As an actor, I was so terrified stepping onto the New Blood set because I had never had a role that got to carry that much weight in any story—let alone such an iconic piece of television,” he admits.
But this time around, the nerves were different:
“There were certainly nerves stepping back onto this one, but I’m putting on a suit that I’ve put on before. There’s less questioning myself. The glove fits a little better—it’s not the first time I put it on.”
