The actor who played Teddy Reed in Dexter: New Blood teases his return.
The countdown is officially on — just 46 days remain until Dexter: Resurrection makes its highly anticipated debut on Paramount+ with Showtime. While fans have endured a long drought of updates since the revival was announced, that silence is about to break. Exciting news is expected to emerge this Saturday, courtesy of a dedicated Dexter: Resurrection panel at CCXP (Comic Con Experience).
So far, a few familiar faces from Dexter and Dexter: New Blood have been confirmed to return for this next chapter. Among the returning cast is David Magidoff, who played the lovable and quirky Iron Lake officer Teddy Reed in New Blood, which aired across 10 episodes from 2021 to 2022.
Teddy’s Return: A Light in the Darkness
While Teddy wasn’t a major character in New Blood, his presence added a much-needed touch of comic relief in an otherwise dark and intense series. Fans were surprised—but thrilled—to learn that Magidoff will reprise his role in Dexter: Resurrection. His return has sparked some curiosity, especially since other major characters like Julia Jones’ Angela Bishop, who seemingly cracked the Bay Harbor Butcher case, have not yet been announced as returning.
Could Teddy’s return hint at a surprising new storyline? Or perhaps his interactions with other returning characters will be more significant than they were in New Blood?
David Magidoff Teases Teddy’s Future — And Pays Tribute to the Cast
In a brand-new interview with Nerd Alert News, David Magidoff opened up—just a little—about his return to the Dexter universe. While staying tight-lipped about specific plot details (as you'd expect), he did manage to drop a few fun hints and heartfelt shoutouts:
On reprising his role as Teddy Reed:
"Of course I’m not allowed to say very much, but I am still rocking the mustache. Very hard. So there’s that. Otherwise, I can’t say anything or else Michael C. Hall will come flying through my window at night with a knife and a full box of saran wrap."
Classic Magidoff — funny and cryptic!
He also took time to reflect on life on the Dexter set:
On the experience of filming Dexter:
"It’s a beautiful time. I can’t speak enough about Scott Reynolds and Clyde Phillips, the showrunners. Not just because they hired me, but because they are kind and collaborative and clearly have great taste. I was there on Uma Thurman’s first day. It was fun to be in the presence of movie royalty and be reminded we’re all just nervous Earthlings on our first day of work. David Zayas is a total joy. Jack Alcott has become a friend. And Michael C. Hall is the definition of class. There’s a reason why he’s ‘the guy.’ One of the greatest humans I’ve ever shared the lens with."
His mention of David Zayas (who plays Angel Batista) has stirred speculation that we might get a scene between Teddy and Batista in Resurrection — a pairing no one expected, but everyone now wants to see.
