Former Chicago Fire Star Monica Raymund Directs Four Episodes of Dexter: Original Sin Season 1

The 10-episode first season of the Dexter prequel is directed by two different directors.

It's November, which means we can officially say Dexter: Original Sin premieres next month! Filming for the highly anticipated prequel, set in 1991 Miami—15 years before the events of the main Dexter series—will wrap by the end of this month.

The cast is currently on set at CBS Radford Studios, shooting scenes for the final episode(s). During the Dexter: Original Sin panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, executive producer and showrunner Clyde Phillips announced that all ten episodes of the first season will be directed by two directors, similar to Dexter: New Blood (where Marcos Siega and Sanford Bookstaver split directing duties).

A few months ago, we reported here at Dexter Daily that Michael Lehmann—who directed episodes 610 and 710 of the original Dexter series—returns to direct six episodes of the prequel, including the series premiere, written by Clyde Phillips.

What most fans don’t know yet is that the second director for the remaining four episodes is a familiar face: Monica Raymund. Best known for her role as Gabriela Dawson on NBC's Chicago Fire, Raymund is not only an actress but also an experienced director. Born on July 26, 1986, in St. Petersburg, Florida, she left Chicago Fire in 2019 after six successful seasons and 139 episodes, to the disappointment of fans.

Raymund has previously directed episodes for hit series such as Law & Order, The Sinner, and FBI, among others. While her specific episodes for Dexter: Original Sin haven’t been confirmed, she recently shared a behind-the-scenes photo from teenage Deb’s bedroom while at duty.

We'll soon find out which episodes each director is helming.
