Filming for Dexter: Original Sin Officially Concludes This Week

November 21st marks the official end of production for the Dexter prequel.

We're just 23 days away from the highly anticipated release of the pilot episode of Dexter: Original Sin! The cast and crew are currently at CBS Radford Studios, shooting the final scenes of the Season 1 finale, penned by series creator Clyde Phillips. That’s right—this is the final week of production, with production officially wrapping on November 21.

Most of the main cast, including James Martinez (Angel Batista), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Tanya Martin), and Reno Wilson (Bobby Watt), have already completed their scenes. However, Patrick Gibson, who stars as the young Dexter Morgan, will remain on set until the very end—fittingly so.

On Tuesday, Patrick gave fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse via Instagram, sharing a photo of himself on set wearing a black hoodie adorned with the Dexter: Original Sin logo. "Final week," he teased, building excitement for the prequel series.

Filming for Dexter: Original Sin kicked off on June 5 in Miami. A few cast members were in Florida for 10 days, wrapping up exterior scenes by June 15 to ensure the series captures an authentic Miami vibe. Production then shifted to Los Angeles, where most of the filming took place. As with the original series—99% of which was shot in L.A.—location managers for the prequel worked to find Los Angeles settings that could convincingly resemble Miami.

Dexter: Original Sin is set to premiere on Friday, December 13, streaming on the Paramount+ with Showtime plan, ahead of its on-air debut on Sunday, December 15.
