The Vile Eye on YouTube dissects one of television's most terrifying villains, Trinity.
The Vile Eye, a popular YouTube channel known for analyzing villainous characters from TV shows and Hollywood films, recently released a video examining one of TV's most unforgettable antagonists: the Trinity Killer.
This 30-minute deep dive explores Arthur Mitchell's dark past, starting in 1959 when, at the age of 10, he spied on his sister Vera while she was showering—something he claimed was out of innocent curiosity. Vera noticed him in the bathroom mirror, and in her startled state, she slipped, shattering the sliding glass door of the shower. Tragically, a shard of glass severed her femoral artery, leading to her death from blood loss.
This traumatic event deeply scarred Arthur and the entire Mitchell family. Two years after Vera's death, their mother, Marsha, took her own life by jumping off the Collins Canal Bridge. Left to cope with their grief, Arthur and his father, Henry, struggled to move forward. Henry, blaming Arthur for the family's tragedies, became an abusive alcoholic. This abuse persisted until March 6, 1964, when Henry was found bludgeoned to death outside a bar. Dexter later speculated that 15-year-old Arthur killed his father after enduring nearly five years of relentless abuse.
Arthur's early life was marred by trauma and violence. Witnessing his sister's accidental death not only forced him to experience the loss of a loved one firsthand but also left him with the unbearable guilt of feeling responsible for the tragedy, despite its unintentional nature.
The video concludes by reaching the events of Dexter in 2009, when Trinity crosses paths with Dexter Morgan—a meeting that proves catastrophic for Dexter’s life.
